This dish is a perfect beefstew to go with potatoes, rice, fries or even bread. It's a stew that was made from horses meat during the winter in world war 2. It's an easy stew to make, it just takes time for stewing.
The ingredients are;
- a glove of garlic
- an medium sized onion
- a tea spoon of mustard
- Two medium sized tomatoes
- two slices of spiced rye cake
- about 600 grams of Beef
- Pepper, salt, Paprikapowder, currypowder (to season the beef)
- two teaspoons of brown Sugar
- a leaflet of laurel
- butter
- hot water
Chop the garlic and slice the onion. Chop the tomatoes in dices of about the size of one centimeter. Also slice the cake the same as the tomatoes.
Melt the butter and first bake the well seasoned beef short till it's goldenbrown. Let the beef rest while you simmer the garlick and the onion. Add the tomatoeslices and cake. Then add the mustard and the brown Sugar.
Add two medium cups of water to it.
Now put in the beef and fill the pan with water so the beef is slightly under the surface. Put in one or two leaflets of laurel.
All you have to do now, is put the fire way down low. Take about four to five hours to let the beef get really soft and the sauce nice and thick.
Deepry fries, boil potatoes or rice, or take white bread.
Put the meat with the nice sauce on a plate.
You can make a rice and stew dish or a potatoe and stew dish.
You can also leave the beef and the sauce in the pan, put it on the table and
use the sauce as a dip for bread and fries.
Enjoy. I know I will ;)
Bier of wijn ipv water is ook lekker. En een kruidnageltje.
Inderdaad. Een bruin biertje zou prima het water kunnen vervangen ;) Goeie tip!
