PERMANENT MARKER REMOVAL (for walls and wood surfaces)

Put a dab of white toothpaste on a damp washcloth or paper towel and gently rub the area. You may need to rub for a while (5 minutes) to remove all of it. Then clean it off with a damp cloth. Repeat as needed.

RUST REMOVAL

Rust spots on your knives. Try these suggestions.

  1. Soak your knives in lemon juice for a few minutes. Scrub gently with the abrasive side of a sponge and you will have beautiful knives.
  2. Make a paste of salt, cream of tartar and lemon juice. Apply this paste to the rust, let it dry, then brush and buff the rusted spot.
  3. Wrap a paper towel soaked in vinegar around the knives. Leave it for a few hours

SANITISING SPONGES

Soak your sponges in a 1:1 solution of 3 % hydrogen peroxide and warm tap water. Let the sponge soak for 15 - 30 minutes to kill the germs, then rinse well.

I am offering a safe and natural alternative to conventional treatment, but these recipes, ideas and treatment should not be misconstrued or substituted for medical advice. Please always proceed with caution and test it first on a small area, or in small quantities, if you are uncertain. Should you suspect that you or your animal have a medical problem, I urge you to seek professional advice.

Thanks for the wonderful tips on natural ways of cleaning!
I will be using all 4.

you are most welcome @porters, I am glad you fund them useful

Some great tips! We use white vinegar to clean most of our surfaces in the house. Most cleaning products are a rip off, as well as being bad for the environment and health! :)

Great tips! I didn’t know about salt and baking sod for silver, will definitely try it soon. Thanks for sharing. 😊

When I was younger, I took for granted the fact that some of our stuffs gets to rust or damaged whenever I do not take good care of them. But now that I am older and gets to see the effects of buying and buying things without really properly taking good care of them, I appreciate these- common household items that can be utilized in other ways. Thank you for sharing them to me.

I remember needing to remove permanent marker on a door (kids....). I vaguely remember using nail polish remover and it seemed to work pretty well!
