ROMANCE genre is normally loved by women. They love to read and watch love stories that can make their heart swell and ache at the same time. They love seeing couples go crazy for each other and surpasses each trial together. They want to see how things unfold and how the two main characters stick together despite everything. It keeps them inspired and hopeful. It drives them to keep on believing in true love and that "forever" exists after all. While men, most but not all, find these books and movies corny and too cheesy for their own taste. They mostly prefer action and fantasy genres because they find it more appealing and entertaining. That's why it's no longer a surprise why the majority of romance authors are female.
But there's a male romance author who has been releasing bestselling novels throughout the years and never lost his magic up to now. He is none other than Nicholas Sparks. His novels were famous across the world and most of them were adapted into full-length films. From bestselling books to blockbuster movies, Nicholas Sparks seems unstoppable in dominating the romance genre. He has been on top of his game ever since and has established and cemented his name as an effective romance author.
Some of his works were The Notebook, A Walk to Remember, The Last Song, The Longest Ride, The Lucky One, Safe Haven, The Choice, The Best Of Me and Dear John to name a few. These stories were a hit and received a warm support from his fans.
The question is: What makes his novels and movies so popular and well-loved?
First, he is undoubtedly a good storyteller who has the ability to show the beautiful and painful side of love. He knows what he's doing and he's apparently killing it. He creates impressive plots and mindblowing plot twists. His novels are distinct from each other yet they have a certain amount of similarity which gives you a familiar "feels" whenever you read or watch his works.
His characters are very relatable. They are flawed individuals who are capable of making mistakes just like all of us. They are not too perfect which makes them more effective in relaying their emotions to us that's why it's not hard to get attached and fall in love with them. In addition to that, his characters are very much in love with each other that they are willing to face anything to protect their relationship.
A lot of his stories have a painful ending or a heartbreaking plot that would require lots of water and a box of tissue paper. But we still can't stop loving them because his works are worth all the pain. When he gives us a sad ending, it's justifiable and wasn't written for the sole purpose of making people cry. It has to be done for the story to be executed well. Nicholas Sparks is an artist who doesn't care about conventional things. He would think outside of the box and give you a story that would teach you loads of lessons about life and love.

Nicholas Sparks is the king of romantic dramas. The man is a legend; even if you've never watched any of his books-turned-films, you know they'll leave you crying. Nicholas Sparks manages to write the love stories in a highly romantic manner. His stories follow a formula: Boy and girl fall in love. The cruel and fickle finger of fate tears them apart. Someone dies. There's a twist where a major secret is revealed. And then somehow even if it's not in the way you wanted the couple ends up together.
@JassennessaJ
Any love story should have the formula boy and girl in love but I hate those ones that their partners dies
Ha ha ha may be you are too emotional. Lol
Yes I am, I hate bad things happening to people that's why I prefer comedy movies
Could't agree more on you @sifatsarker. He's absolutely a king of romantic dramas.
@jassennessaj i have seen the movies but never read a book...the way you have made Nicholas describe in tye post...for sure i am gonna read one soon....👍 but why most of the romantic stories ends in box of tissues ? I hace read many Indian authors and they too bring the same climax.....is pain other name of romance...still i am wondering about it.😉
I think that's what Indians are good at, even their movies end in box of tissues
Indeed that what keep me wondering
Tears are memories @steemflow.
👍
But the bad ones
Sparks novel are highly romantic, they attract women of all ages. He is dense in his words when it's up-to romance.
For example consider “Message in a Bottle”- There is no point in debating whose love was the best Catherine's love on Garrett or Garrett's love on his late wife Thersa. Sparks would have explained it in such a way that all of their love was pure but at the same time melancholic.
How can some one miss “The Notebook”- Again a story of a man and women who loved each other endlessly. I bet every women need a guy who cares her and loves her like Sparks novel hero.
Last but not the least “A walk to remember”- my favorite lines : “the memories of that day will be the final images that float through my mind” this is when Landon remembers the day he got married to Jamie after 40years. Other famous lines that I loved was “In every way , a walk to remember”, “Miracles can happen”-Sparks leaves us with a twist what had happened to Jamie.
I always like to thank @communitycoin . because he picking the good content writer and they are sharing us the really some good contents. Thanks @JassennessaJ
I would compare Nicholas Sparks to James Patterson in terms of how they work, both know what sells and aren't interested in exploring anything outside. They've found a formula that seems to satisfy their audience and can just re-use characters and situations ad infinium and their readers don't seem to mind so they have no incentive to be creative.
Sparks isn't at Patterson's level of laziness yet, where he just hires interns to write his books for him but you still know exactly what you are going to get with a Sparks book everytime.
It's cool that you enjoy his work but be aware that there are writers out there who do what he does with a lot more originality and skill.
You got it right. What I love about Nicholas is that the satisfaction it brings to the reader.
Sincerely, haven't read of his books but watched the movie Dear John but don't know if the play was from the book.
I am the definition of these type of me
No one should laugh at me here if I should tell you that I have never read any of his books, probably because of my emotions, I am too emotional, I can consider the story to be so true that I start thinking its happening. I don't just read, I imagine what I'm reading..
I know I might be taking the lead for some of us who hasn't gone true any of his books like me.. Smile
But, with all the accolades despite doing what women would find more natural deserves some recognitions even more than he has gotten.
I love your poetic review of all his productions, it's tantalizing to us your audience.. Lol
No one would laugh at you since its what you've never done. I haven't read any of his books 📚 too and just my first time hearing such name
Perfect! I'm not alone... Smile
Well I've never read any of his books 📖 or stories but I think he's differ cos he writes what women are good at, he proved people wrong that it ain't only women can write romantic stories but man can do it better
More extreme, readers seem to be 'stunned' with the characters described by the authors until they have an excessive liking or arise the possibility of sexual attraction with the character.
In real life, many people take the time to understand about themselves and others. If this condition is associated with a fictional character in a story, they have devoted all their attention to understanding the character.
Reading fiction allows us to go deeper into the thoughts and feelings of the characters the author creates. Because not necessarily we can 'read' the mind of every person in real life.
While reading fiction, we tend to be able to know, read minds, and hear almost everything the characters say in the novel through the dialogue and narration of each chapter. In fact, we seem to know the thoughts, traits, and character of the imaginary character is much better than the real people around us.
The novel reader may be more aware of what the fictional character thinks because they read carefully each chapter. Thanks to the ability of the author, the memory of the imaginary character is so attached. They are able to create characters that can make people hate, happy, amazed, even fall in love.
The author seems to have a 'tool' to stimulate the minds of the readers so that they feel attracted to the characters he wrote. The author knows exactly how much information he has to write to make the readers feel so curious that they will continue reading the novel of his handling until it is finished.
I have read two by two, it is an story of love lost and found, two star-crossed kids meet one summer on the beach in New Bern, North Carolina. Over a decade passes before Noah Calhoun and Allie Nelson find each other again, but in the interim, neither forgets the other. When they are finally reunited, many obstacles stand in the way of their love, both because of choices they have made and because of events beyond their control. They actually made it together at last.
I enjoy with your post, and i will follow
Nicholas Sparks is a genius. I said that with every sense of understanding. My favourite of the lot is "A Walk To Remember". I watched the movie, and it is about a violent guy who suddenly went cool when he fell in love with a Church girl. She had cancer and this guy stood by her. The father of the lady later accepted the boy and all. It was so emotional, and the movie got me so teary eyed. I have used the title of that Novel to write few poems and articles too, totally unrelated to the movie/book theme. I totally love it.
You are right with this:
That is what happened with me hahahaha
Thank you for this. This is really cool and nice. You brought back lot of memories for me. Thanks a lot.
@communitycoin, The love that is discussed in the story is not just ordinary love but encountered in everyday life or sweet love like in the Disney animated film.
So far, I like THE BEST OF ME
The films are enough to leave you sobbing into your pillow over how beautiful and tragic love is.
Thanks for sharing @JassennessaJ
Sad
