Great article. I think there's pros and cons to the whole concept of finding and embracing your "superpower". It's sad that there are people out there working in jobs they hate, when they could be pursuing a very rewarding (financially and spiritually) creative dream.
I do think there is a flip side to the coin though, and I've become acutely aware of it recently. I know someone who is obsessively pursuing a single creative dream, and it's not working out so well. What I don't think they realize is that we all have multiple talents and very broad potential.
While pursuing happiness and creative freedom, I think it's important to be open to new roads. We all have multiple super powers. You might start out as a pianist, and end up being a sound engineer for a big band, for example. I've threaded many creative roads, at times somewhat obsessively. I'm much happier now that I've allowed my vision of the future to branch off into copious possibilities.
Cheers. You're right about everyone having multiple super powers. This was basically a big arse brain dump from me - so much shit going on right now... I think true creative freedom would lead to happiness for many, and I see that maybe steemit is a vehicle to drive creative people in that direction, being an alternative outlet for their creative endeavours, PLUS the chance to earn some money in the process, and expose you to new roads/directions/influences/inspiration, which, like you said, is definitely something we should all be open to.
I know my easily sidetracked/distracted brain can be a curse and a blessing. It does let me explore loads of different ideas within a relatively short space of time - electronics, drawing, music, programming, writing, making stuff... might be nice to settle on one thing for a while though and see what sticks.
As to your friend, maybe they need to pursue their creative dream to keep them going, which'd be ok as long as it's not to the detriment of other parts of their lives...
I know it's hard to hear that something you've been passionately working on isn't working out, but it's definitely harder be the person to tell them.
(steemit == copious possibilities)
