RE: Onboarding Traditional Users to Web3

in #blog9 months ago

It very much still feels like traditional users only come into crypto because they feel they are missing out on the opportunity to make money while prices are skyrocketing. I don't get the feeling that anyone really understands the core need for something like Bitcoin even while the cost of living keeps going up exponentially.

That's the reason why meme coins pretty much outperform everything else. They are easy to understand, fun, and provide potential big returns that attract the masses.

I do really like Hive as a possible entry point for many.

Agreed. Hive really is a special way for people to learn about web3 and blockchain. There's still a learning curve, but they attempted to improve on every aspect of a users experience. Even if it's not as seamless as a web2 experience, it's miles ahead of most other blockchain applications.

I also think one thing Hive showcases better than any other ecosystem is the composability of blockchain. The fact that Hive.blog, Peakd, InLeo, Liketu, DTube, and many more websites and apps can be built with their own take on the same underlying foundation, tweaking things for their preferred users. When I showed my friend Hive, and then later introduced him to "The Twitter experience of Hive", his mind was blown. I could tell that was the thing that made the difference between blockchain based apps unique click into his mind.
