Good Morning,
As you are well aware I have complained often enough that we have had very unusual weather here, and that most of southern Europe has had a heatwave. If you didn't see or hear about this here is the link to the post I did about it.
https://steemit.com/news/@crazybgadventure/europe-is-having-a-mega-heatwave-their-calling-it-lucifer
So today I just looked on the Accuweather site and I can see that tomorrow is going to be a very cool 21C, which I am so happy about, and then I thought I would look at the next few weeks and I can see we have about one more week of the 30's before going into the 20's. But it looks like we are going to go into the low 20's which will feel cooler and meaning that work will be ramped up.
Very soon our neighbour will come in to our garden and plough behind the barn, we must get the earth turned up before winter and left for the frost to hit it, then next spring they will come again and turn it over ready for next years plants to go down. I have more or less decided on what we want to plant, things like cabbages, carrotts, broccoli, Tomatoes, Cucumbers, Courgettes, Bell Peppers and herbs (I am probably missing some out.
Then we need to get more mesh and concrete posts so we can seal off the area, and then I need to consider water containers for next year so that we can collect the rain water for next year for the plants.
We don't have a well here, and there is the possibility of having a well dug, but I am in two minds about that due to having dogs, my dog Max has no sense when it comes to jumping on or over things. So I don't know if I will be doing the well thing or not or just paying the extra on the water bill for water.
I am starting to feel sad now although summer has not ended, September will be cooler, which means we start to come into the autumn weather. I just got butterflies thinking about it all as we are no where near prepared for the winter.
I still don't have a big freezer to store food, we don't have enough wood yet to see us through for winter, we have three windows we need to get put in to make the house warmer.
Then as I have no grown a huge harvest of vegetables this year because of time really, I have to make sure that we have a good stock of things like UHT Milk, plenty of flour and yeast to make bread, preserves we have some but not loads.
What have I learned so far this year.
Ok some of the things I have learned this year are, do what you want to do, don't do it because other people want you to do it. So next year I do want tomatoes but not like 500 plants just a few will do. Don't turn the plums into preserved plums turn them into Jam its so much nicer and not a waste.
Don't tell my neighbours when I am preserving something because they want me to take it round and for them to do it for me, which takes longer and its time I don't really have.
Make sure for next year all plants are in at spring time ready for the summer, be religious in my watering regime on mornings and evenings.
So whats next
Well we have thunderstorms forecast today and the temperature is going to get to around 33C so today I am going to take stock at the vegetables we have got, I also need to sweep the floors, since the roof work is being done there is more dust than usual.
Tonight I am making curry something i have gotten very good at doing,
There is another post I want to share soon also more of a whiney one but something I have been giving great thought to.
So there you have it steemians, sorry about waffling on really I guess what I wanted to do today was just to get some thoughts down here about what I have coming up in the near future.
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend.
