Mother's Day, The Move And Saving Baby Ducks

Mother's Day went really well for me. The only thing they let me do during my daughters move was watch Charlie. I did sneak in carrying one floor lap into the new apartment, I put some of the kitchen together and I put the cushions on the couch when no one was looking. What can I say, I am a rebel. :P

The apartment is smaller than the townhouse they had but its super cute and they are doing a great job of making everything fit. They also have a farm field in view from their deck but of course I never got a photo of that.

Franklin, the cat, was not too happy about the whole moving thing. He actually went to his crate and stayed there until everyone left after the move. The good news is, he did start to venture out and seems to be more comfortable with his new surroundings today.

We've had ducks coming to our pool for years now but this is the first time any of them have came with their babies. We were a little worried when we seen them in there this morning. We don't know a lot about ducks so we thought maybe they could fly, at least a little.

Hubby went to work and I retreated to my office to get some stuff done for my gaming channel. It was after noon before I came back down and seen the babies were still in the pool. At that point the parents were sitting on the deck and I knew the babies were in trouble. The poor little things had been in there for hours by then.

I got a piece of wood and a thick bungee cord that Hubby had in the garage and made them the best ramp I could. They didn't love me being out there so I came back in and just peeked out from time to time hoping they would figure it out. Meantime, the parents were no where to be seen and I feared they had abandon them.

I was super happy when I seen two of the babies actually use the ramp and make it safely onto the deck.

Hubby had to use our pool scoop to get a third duck out when he got home. The baby wasn't happy but at least he was out. Sadly, I have no clue what happened to the other two because there were five of them this morning.

To my pleasant surprise, mama duck had been waiting under the deck for her babies. They are with her in this photo but the babies are hard to see. I actually think two of them were on the other side of the tree when I took the photo.

All in all, I am just happy we, for sure, saved three of them. I hope I just didn't see the other two get out.

PS: Hubby just told me he seen mama duck with a 4th baby. :D

happy mother's day dear and happy to enjoy your content. i do really love you amazing photography.

Thank you!

Charlie is cute! I hope your daughter enjoys her new place. I bet it is nicer to have her close to home. Gald you could save the little ducklings. Did you ever find out what happened to the other two?

Hubby seen the mama duck with a 4th baby just a bit ago so I know a 4th one got out. I just hope he missed seeing the 5th.

What a lovely Mother's Day story @debralee Those chicks are so gorgeous. All the best with the unpacking.

Thanks! :D Thankfully unpacking will be up to my daughter and her boyfriend. :P

Oh sorry @debralee I missed that bit.......I thought you were moving house. It’s always good to get a helping hand although I’m glad to hear you didn’t have to do too much on Mother’s Day. 😊

Aww what a sweet story! I'm glad you are moved in and helped the babies!

Thank you. I am glad we got them moved too, now they live close to us again. :D

They are precious!

Glad you guys were able to save the baby ducks!

Me too, thanks.

I am so glad you had a good mother's day! The ducks are so cute! How thoughtful of your husband to make them a ramp?!?

Thanks! I made the ramp out of Hubby's stuff from the garage. :P

Silly babies! I am so glad you recognized that they were in trouble and that you helped them have a happy ending. Wonder if they will come back.

I left the ramp in there in case they do but I am hoping they leaned a lesson.

I’m glad your daughter’s pets are settling into their new surroundings. They don’t like change-especially cats! The duck story was precious.

Thank you!

Happy Mother’s Day, a little late, but you mentioned it in your post. I hope you enjoy your new home. Love the ducklings!
God bless!

Thank you. We didn't move, we helped my daughter move. :)

Sorry I didn’t pick that up! My bad!

This post reminded me of the nursery song Five little ducks. :) Happy mother's day to you!

That is cute. I just hoped they keep their babies out of our pool. now. lol Thanks!

What an exciting time for you!! You are a rebel but in a totally good way! ;) The little babies just melt my heart...too cute!!

Aww, thanks! :D xoxo

Great job rescuing the little ones. I'm sure they would have a tough time getting out. Hard on them if they can't. They sure are cute though.

Thanks, they are adorable.

Hey that is a job well done!!!

Thank you!

are you Dr Doolittle in disguise?? lol....what a fun story. :)

Ha! I actually am not a fan of the ducks being in our pool but I did feel sorry for the cute babies. :P

You know how the saying goes, "No good deed goes unpunished." lol
