In Quahog, Rhode Island, the Griffin's, a dysfunctional family cope with every day life as crazy cartoon unrealistic scenarios are thrown at them one by one. Filled with hilarious celebrity bashing and parodies, references to pop culture from many different eras mixed with twisted humor that definitely isn't for everybody. This show has had it's fair share of controversy due to it's offensive stabs at humor. They poke fun at sensitive subjects and really push the boundaries of what can be done on television. Since they're a cartoon and none of the action taken in the show is actually real, they can get away with a lot more than a show that isn't a cartoon. Which is why I love it so much, honestly. In a way, I've grown up with this show. It's first episode aired on January 31, 1999, when I was only 4 years old and still to this day is producing more episodes year round, while I am now 22. Even as a young child who couldn't really understand everything I was seeing, I've always enjoyed watching this show, especially with my brothers and cousins.
In 2018, Family Guy will be airing it's 16th season. While this isn't as much as say, South Park or The Simpsons, it's still quite an impressive accomplishment for any show. And while they do poke fun at many different celebrities, which have sprung up lawsuits, they still manage to have guest stars and incredibly famous people involved in their production, which just goes to show how positively most people react to this shows content. While some may be offended, most people are good sports about it, and even join in the fun. People like Ryan Reynolds, Jay Leno, Kiss, Neil Patrick Harris, Chevy Chase, Bryan Cranston and Barry Manilow are some of the few who have joined in the fun and guest starred in an episode or two. Hate the show all you want, it's fan base who view every episode and anticipate more and more, will keep the show alive. I highly recommend you watch this show! Unless you're easily offended! In that case, just watch something else.
