I remember playing this game for the first time on the PlayStation 3 when I was in 7th grade. We had just gotten the PS3 and Mirror's Edge was one of the games we got when we picked it up. And I was glad we did. In this game you play in the first person perspective of a girl who is a courier who relays messages while evading government surveillance. Most missions call for you to guide the character through rooftops, through ventilation shafts and restricted buildings using parkour inspired moves. You can attack enemies with hand to hand combat, or use special moves to disarm them and dispose of them with their own weapons. The environment that surrounds you is a very futuristic colorful world. It's unlike any other game I've ever played, at least in a first person perspective. It was an awesome story to follow and always kept my interest. Kept me on the edge of my seat as I got closer and closer to the end. After hearing there was a small sequel, I got excited, and I added it to my list of games to play. I definitely wanted more of this game when I was finished with it. It left an awesome impression on me.
Going back to play this game a second time, almost felt nostalgic. It was all the more enjoyable the second time around and just as challenging. Even though I had played it before, it almost felt like I never played it. When parkour was pretty much going viral and almost everyone wanted to give it a try, this game was released. And I thought it was a brilliant idea. To incorporate the popular trend at the time into a game with an amazing story made a perfect game, in my opinion. While there isn't much of a multiplayer option of the game, that never mattered to me. The story does well enough for that to not even matter, honestly. While I loved this game, I don't think it was widely received the way it should have been, because most people I knew didn't even know what this game was. And I thought that was stupid. All in all, I give this game the highest rating it can get, it's well worth the play.
A floored gem of a game, sometimes the first person felt cumbersome but good levels and flow. I really enjoyed it :)
