As i was waiting for the traffic light to signal "GO" for us to cross the road, i can't help overhearing a conversation between two highschool students beside me. One asked, "Why won't we cross, a lot of people are already crossing the street?".. I couldn't help smiling with the other one's response, "In every 10 people, it's good to have atleast three or four who follows traffic rules. Rules are set for people's safety. Also, us standing here waiting for the go signal is a way to encourage others that it's way better to follow than take risk of your own life". Hearing those words coming from someone way younger than I am made me think of all the times I was "beating-the-red-light", though not with driving 'coz I don't have a car but with crossing roads. Those were indeed a hell of a risk. Us, adults, more often than not gives more priority to our busy schedules, beating the deadlines and fast-paced everyday life without realizing that we've set aside ourselves. Others may think it's okay 'coz lawbreakers aren't taken seriously here in the Philippines. On a higher note, will it really cost us a lot to discipline ourselves? Would it be so nice living in an organized and safe community?
A matter of discipline
