I honestly don't think we're too far away from some kind of civil war here, or "semi-peaceful secession" in the U.S. if things don't drift more towards the middle. If it gets to that point I don't think it'll be fought like previous civil wars but there will be pockets of insurgents who will take over certain areas that might result in some kind of unified secession. There's just too deep a divide between the two extremes now to imagine a consensus.
The next four years, I believe, will make all the difference in which way it goes. No matter who wins this next election I envision civil unrest and cries of election fraud. This might just be the spark that ignites the flames. In the meantime, we'll be working towards that second passport. ; ) These are dangerous times for America. I don't think many realize how quickly this house of cards could fall.
A great idea that I’d look a lot more seriously if I was younger. Several European countries make it relatively easy if you have family ties. And a bunch of countries let you basically buy a second passport, but not cheaply.
