I Use this Tool to Help me Decide when to Publish my Blog Posts

in #blog4 months ago (edited)

The world is a big place, and we as publishers need to keep that in mind when we publish our blog posts. Contrary to popular belief here in the states, there ARE actually countries out there besides America. I know, who woulda thunk it, right? :) (Canada doesn't count, since it's actually the 51st state, so there's that). lol!

I usually write for the great unwashed masses, but at times I may want to target a particular geographic region with my totally AWESOME message. I used to have to sit here and try to figure out who's either ahead of or behind my almighty NY EDT (or is it EST? I could never figure out "spring back" or "fall forward" or whatever the hell it is with that blasted daylight savings time, which they need to get rid of BTW).

And no, before you ask, I'm not ABOUT to try and figure out that arcane UST or USB or Universal Basic Income time that they're trying to foist (I like that word) on us. It's like trying to decipher Sanskrit or something.

As singer Adele would say: 'Go Easy On Me' that thought led me to find an easy way to determine who among you were awake at any given time and who was fast asleep dreaming of Kim Kardashians greasy ass (you know who you are). :)

So instead of a hodgepodge of clicks, I found an amazing website that lets me get what I want.

Worldtimebuddy is an amazing resource for me as I can instantly build a customized list of cities, and compare them to my very own NY time which is what I base everything against.

You can save up to 10 locations, and all of the listed times are compared to NYC time. My current 10 cities are:

  • EDT (NY)
  • London, England (5 states in the US have cities named London: Kentucky, Ohio, Arkansas, Texas and West Virgina)
  • Berlin (I used to live in Germany and loved it there)
  • Sydney
  • Christchurch
  • Lagos (Nigeria)
  • Seoul
  • San Francisco
  • Sao Paulo (Brazil)
  • Honolulu (Hawaii)

And that about covers the main areas that I both generally reach and read most about here on Hive. Now if you're wondering about why I added Honolulu, it's because of population density (or lack thereof).

Once you leave the last stop of civilization in beautiful New Zealand, you enter the vast Pacific realm peopled with mostly nothing outside of tiny populations scattered far apart from each other across the endless ocean.

That whole region may as well be just a blank spot on the map, and it's there as a reminder that in case I have Hawaii specific information to share or write about, it's best to leave that area out for targeting since almost nobody lives there (although tydynrain is living his best life in stunning hawaii). :)

This site has been a Godsend for me as a blogger, and I only wish I'd found it sooner. So give it a try, and they also have a mobile app for download. Happy blogging!

I'll give the app a try. I'm currently struggling with what time is right for me to post.

Thanks for the info.
