Wazzup steemians, have you ever heard about the battle of Grunwald reenactment that takes place every year, it is probably the largest reenactment in the world with thousands of people taking part . My daughter and sister in law go every year, my daughter was on of the villagers fleeing for her life. She was a little freaked out when one of the villagers was hung, they really go all out to make it realistic.
This event lasts a couple of days and you are able to see some cool props like these cannons.
My sister in law is one of the cooks so I was able to try out some authentic medieval meals, and I was able to buy some medieval beer, which was awesome, I stuck out a bit because I never had the correct attire.
This event gets larger and larger every year, it all started a few years back when the museum on the site want to make a reenactment with just a few people taking part, I bet they never thought that it would explode like this.
These are the Monuments at the museum.
This is just a tiny part of the village.
Before the King went to battle he prayed at the church and I guess his prayers where answered. This is his grave.
And this is the church.
There is a also a tournament where the knights fight it out in the arena, and they don't hold back.
If you ever in Poland while the event is taking place, you must go it is really something to see.
One of my favorite posts all week. Great job. Thanks for sharing something very unique. I saw a reenactment of the Battle of San Jacinto, where Texas won her independence. You are very right about how serious the people take their roles. Great fun.
Thanks, that sounds like a good 1 too.
Hey, this is so neat. My husband and I stayed at a park that hosted the renaissance fair. Although we didn’t attend we got to watch all of the people dressed up eating big turkey legs, drinking beer and cussing like the wenches and (insert whatever the guys go by) they all are, at least for the weekend. It’s pretty cool! Your poor daughter is going to be traumatised now… 🤦🏼♀️ Haha, I’m sure it was a great time.
Thanks, renaissance fair sounds cool.
It was pretty cool.
