I worry a lot about how climate change will impact my kids. I try to do my part even though I am just a small drop in a big pond. I've donated over 600 trees to charities like the National Forest Foundation. I also try to minimize my carbon footprint and clean electricity is a big part of that.
I tried for a long time to find a better energy supplier in the USA. It can be difficult to know if you can trust a company and how they produce their electricity. Luckily I found a company that I like called Arcadia Power. They made it easy and I also save some money by participating in a solar community program.
The Sign Up
I remember being a little hesitant about this part. However, my greed of the referral bonus got the best of me so I did sign up.
Arcadia requires that you give them the login and password of your local utility company. That is why I was a little hesitant but it turned out to be just fine. I've used them for about 3 years. You will pay Arcadia instead of the local utility. Then, Arcadia will see your bill and pay it. A small win here is that Arcadia accepts credit cards and my local utility did not. So in addition to other benefits, I now also get some cash back with my credit card.
Clean Energy
Without doing anything, Arcadia claims that they offset 50% of your electricity usage with wind power somewhere else in the country. But don't go thinking you now have clean electricity at your house. You can voluntarily pay extra to have Arcadia offset 100% of your electricity usage with wind. And while you still don't have clean energy at your house, it is at least something.
Saving Money
However, my favorite part is that Arcadia helped me participate in a community solar program. You receive a 5% discount off the price of your electricity and the rest of your money goes to Arcadia and the program. Hopefully there is a program near you.
If you live in the USA, I would be interested in your recommendations. Here is a referral to get a $10 bonus, https://arcadia.com/referral/?promo=joshua89131.
Feel free to check out my other referrals - https://invitation.codes/@j_wowza. They are all good, except for the ones that suck.
