Wine is a taboo element in many sacred civilizations. Numerous rituals and rites have traditionally been associated with its use. It is significant that the very word "spirt" (from Russian epiphyte, alcohol) comes from the Latin "spiritus" or spirit. Kabbalists also link wine with internal, esoteric aspects. In Hebrew, the words "wine" and "mystery", "mystery", have the same numerical value, and therefore, from a mystical perspective, they are synonyms. Even more this topic has been developed in the Islamic tradition. Sharia, the law of exoteric, external religious principles, strictly prohibits Muslims from using alcoholic beverages. Using them is considered a terrible sin. In a complete contrast to this harsh position, there is the Sufi tradition, internal Islam, where on the contrary, wine is praised in all ways, and the advantages of alcohol are appreciated in various ways. Alcohol (by the way, the word itself is of Arabic origin), Sufis, Islamic esoterics, call their "secret science", "the inner doctrine of initiation". Just as alcohol is forbidden for the outside, and allowed for the internal, so Sharia people have access only to the shell of truth, and people tarikata to herself.

Wine is not only a symbol, an allegory. Tradition is all connected with each other. If something remains with something else in the relationship, it means that these things are also related in a practical way. In other words, if alcohol is a synonym for initiation, it means that the action it causes on man should initiate a journey of initiation. Drinking is a path, a path to the interior.

Naturally, simple getting drunk does not necessarily guarantee the achievement of the truth. It is only a path to it. And like any path, it can be auspicious, but it can also end in nothing.

Thank you for your info :)
good post and quality @gregbit
Thank you
This is very enlightening! Thank you very much.
I am always suspicious of all forbidden rules and laws written by people who didn’t tell us all the truth behind their laws!
Even in Buddhism, alcohol or spirits are forbidden only is case of the purpose of intoxication only. If using spirits in terms of medicinal purposes, it is okay!!
But most people who didn’t read the scripture will never understand this! Just as well, the majority of Thai people drink alcohol for getting drunk!!
Cheers!
Thank you for your very full of details info :)
