A friend of mine came to visit today and she told me a story about her relationship, how it went sour. And I realize we all try to enjoy the good aspect of love, we all try to understand love but sometimes love hurt and leaves a scar on us.
A friend of mine has been dating her partner for 3 1/2 years, we have known each other since our uni days, they’ve been on and off, but we all thought they’ll eventually end up together. The shocker came when she told me the full story of her relationship with this guy. She had endured and been through a lot. In Nigeria after university we all go for nysc(national youth service corps) and there’s this monthly pay called “allawee”which our government pay us for serving the country.
During the time when my friend was dating she has been giving this guy her monthly allawee. Unknownto her this guy had a girlfriend, now this is where the story get interesting not only did he have a girlfriend he was planning a trip with his babe.
Fast forward to after nysc youth my friend thought the money she has been giving her said boyfriend, they’ll use it to rent an apartment or plan for their future. Only to get to his place and be informed by his roommate that he has traveled to Dubai, he didn’t inform her. She tried reaching out to him, he wasn’t responding to his messages, only for her to see a post on Instagram of him and the said girlfriend in Dubai.
According to her, she asked his sisters and he not only did he travel out, he paid his other girlfriend traveling expenses. She pleaded for her money back, even went as far as asking his mum to beg him, this man didn’t budge. He kept airing her until she gave up hope.
I don’t even know how she told me this story without breaking down, I honestly felt rage of being treated like that. No one deserves to be hurt because they love someone, if you don’t think you are compatible just leave the person.
Nowadays most people stay together to hurt the person that love them, or to gain monetary favors. This incident really opening my eyes to the other part of love and how love hurt people. I hope we don’t get to experience it, I hope we all experience a love so true and beautiful.
