RE: Random Stuff

in #blog6 years ago (edited)

Remember, when you had to travel across country? We are more or less traveling to another state. Maybe two weeks here left. So may not post much until we arrive at the farm.

Will keep checking on what you are going to write though in the meantime.

I hope you have a wonderful time traveling and at the farm (your parents I am assuming from what you said the other day). You won't be missing much from me. One maybe two VOP posts over the next couple weeks. I need to focus on writing elsewhere now so I can move onto the next phase. :)

Could you compile what i wrote and write a book?

I'm sorry, but I can't. I just don't have the time. The time factor is part of why I am cutting back posting here, as that time can be spent working on what I am going to be publishing.

I know you can do it, and would suggest these things.

If you know how to use photoshop or gimp, you can make a cover. You buy a photo from one of the photo sites like Canstock, usually getting one of their plans if you plan on publishing several books as it will save you money. If you don't know, buy the photo (always provide the photo) and use someone from Fiverr for cheap. Many talented people there, but choose someone getting started so it will be cheaper, they are wanting reviews more than money.

Write the book in Word, and Amazon will convert it for you to the Mobi file they use for Kindle. Or you can use an aggregate such as Streetlib, D2D etc and they will convert the Word file for you.

You will need to create the accounts where you plan on publishing obviously, and set it with your bank account for direct deposits on their pay cycles. You usually are about two months behind getting the royalties.

Don't let any fears of grammar usage hold you back. Mine leave much to be desired and only grammar nazi's will care, and you will find them everywhere. I was in a group years ago with a very successful author who paid 4k (that's a LOT in self publishing) for one of the most highly respected editors for one of her novels, and she still got shredded in a review over grammar. I have never used an editor, and you can do a couple of things if you are concerned.
