If you are new in Steemit, you might have been wondering how you would grow from becoming a minnow into a dolphin, into an orca to a whale. In the platform, these are classifications or rankings that reflect how much contribution have you made to the community. It is also recognition of how much you have earned as an author.

As you all know, there many things you can do in Steemit and each niche are matched with a community tag. Tags are used to let the platform organize every posts made throughout the day. These are required to have your articles published for others to read.

Like how technology evolves, people in the community have learned to find solutions and make Steemit a better place. Several communities have raised their own purpose in the platform to help fellow authors grow and as well as maintain a healthy environment. But I'm not going to share these communities to you; rather I would want to share the three most important rule on how you can grow your authorship in the platform.

Follow your Favorite Authors

While you might want to have a number of followers, it is by nature that you should follow someone else first. This practice is rather misused by many; following as many as you can to have as many potential followers. It might work to some but in general, it shall not.

By doing this, you're just flooding your home feed with so much contents that you might not be interested with. The same goes to others, you might just be another uninteresting writer to them which content are in their feeds. I'm exemplifying another person who does this practice and you as someone who followed back. I'm not saying it's bad but it's not healthy.

What you should do is follow authors that contents interests you. You shouldn't just ignore an article from your favorite author, will you? That sparks an author to author relationship and staying in the community would mean not only about the rewards but also about the information and people you have come to know in Steemit.

Also, your favorite authors can inspire you to be the best version of you. We learn from people we know and each leaves a mark to your character. That's why knowing the right people is learning how to grow.

Don't just post, engage!

You articles or simply posts, earns you rewards but it's not the only way to earn. The art of commenting is a tool to learn and anybody can jump start their exposure just by doing so. After all, it's what you want in the first place - exposure.

It's true that upvotes earns you monetary rewards but it isn't literally the best profit you can have. Authors love engagement and no one can make you feel appreciated than knowing there is someone who takes time and stop by to read what you have written. It's an imaginable feeling of happiness but the most rewarding.

By engaging with authors, you’re helping the community and the people in it to stay active and sociable for great platform built in the blockchain. Be mindful that whatever you post remain forever in the blockchain and anybody can see them. Yes, you can still edit your posts 7 days maximum but after that span it will remain undeleted, unless there will be a new implementation in the blockchain about deleting data.

Imagine if someday, new ones will do the same to you and engage with you, wouldn't you be glad to finally have more readers? Everyone has to start on their own starting points and begin interacting to as many as people as they can in order to be known. It is how the cycle goes. In time, you'll be the one whom you followed before.

Don't forget to have fun!

It's probably not much of a thing to remember but a thing to keep. How many new steemians who left the platform too early have you known? Do you have a guess why they left? I'm not going to say an obvious reason but we can't abandon the fact that it might be something personal. Who knows?

Having fun and most of all, loving what you do, is a strong reason why you should strive further and continue to grow along with other authors in the community. It could be a long journey but you'll be surprise how far you have reached just by knowing and enjoying what you do and the people around you.

Now just so you know, you have all the will and the time to make something different and discover something new. Explore what you can explore and become someone whom people will recognize. That is if you'll start practicing these three rules. Your efforts will reciprocate your achievements so be hungry for goals and reach as many as you can.
