Many of us probably have an old MySpace account gathering dust in cyberworld. For a lot of people over the age of 25, MySpace was likely the first social media website that got our attention.
Then Facebook came along and just about everyone bailed out of MySpace for FB.
At first, FB was an awesome platform for many of us for social networking but then, things became awry.
I noticed this about 4 years ago or so. I’ve been on FB since 2009 and have a popular page, In5d Esoteric Metaphysical and Spiritual Database, with over 437,000 “Likes”. The first 400,000 came within the first four years that I was on FB. Since then, my page has only accrued an additional 37,000 likes.
Something was wrong and I couldn’t figure out what it was.
Shadow Bans
As it turns out, FB, along with Twitter, does a thing called Shadow Ban. A shadow ban is the act of blocking a user or their content from an online community such that the user does not realize that they have been banned.
In other words, you can post all you want but your posts will end up in the void with the FB admins yelling, “Pit of Misery…Dilly Dilly!”.
I made a post on FB and as it turns out, MANY people are experiencing this.
It ends up boiling down to censorship, although FB claims that the new algorithms are designed to create community.
FB promotes community, but you're not in it
FB founder Mark Zuckerberg stated, “I’m changing the goal I give our product teams from focusing on helping you find relevant content to helping you have more meaningful social interactions.”
What this means in layman’s terms is that anyone who is promoting their website or products will be scorned and have their posts hidden from the general public.
The line FB is giving is that they are is concerned about providing a quality experience that will promote a user’s well-being.
If that were true, then people should still be able to choose the option, “See First” in their newsfeed. As it turns out, I’ve had several people comment to me that they had my website’s FB page set to “See First” only to have FB revert it back to “Default” without their consent.
Additionally, I received a report from a friend who said he tried to do a FB search for In5D and found it buried under many other name suggestions.
What FB is truly doing is forcing people to leave FB for alternate options. By doing so, they’re able to break up large groups of people who are not following a specific agenda. Additionally, they're deterring large groups of people from banding together against the establishment by forcing them to regroup and go elsewhere.
Where does that leave us?
There are a number of options available for people who are ready to abandon FB or simply want a different social media platform.
MeWe
“The best chat & group app with privacy you trust! #Not4Sale.” MeWe was founded by online privacy advocate, Mark Weinstein, along with co-founder Jonathan Wolfe. This is a great option that has no ads, no censorship, and no tracking. Feel free to be YOU here.
I even created a new In5d Esoteric Metaphysical and Spiritual Database Group here! Join me and you'll never miss an update!
Informed Planet
Informed Planet also encourages free speech without senseless algorithms, data mining, and censorship. There are no ads on this website, either. Additionally, there are no friend’s limits unlike FB and their 5,000 limit.
Steemit
“Steemit is a social media platform where everyone gets paid for creating and curating content.” Steemit is a blogging and social networking website on top of the Steem blockchain database. The Steem blockchain produces Steem and Steem Dollars which are tradeable tokens users obtain for posting, discovering, and commenting on interesting content.
Minds
Minds is an open source social networking service, headquartered in New York City. Elements of the global hacktivist collective Anonymous showed initial support for Minds, based on its foundation of transparency and privacy.
Gab
Gab is an awesome alternative to Twitter. Gab is a social network that champions free speech, individual liberty, and the free flow of information online. Similar to FB, you can Livestream from Gab! They have a character count of up to 300 while Twitter was recently doubled to 280 (probably due to the competition of Gab).
Goodbye, Dinosaur Media
It is blatantly apparent that FB will soon face the same demise as MySpace and will be an archived memory of when free speech without censorship used to exist on their platform. It is quickly becoming the dinosaur social network that will eventually hang itself unless it ends its censorship and suppression of authentic websites through shady practices such as shadow banning and useless algorithms.
Live Streaming
The only benefit I can see from FB is that they have the ability to Livestream, but you can do that with YouTube, Google Hangouts, and Gab. With friend limitations and censorship of material, FB will soon have the same demise as MySpace.,, which is just a memory in cyberworld.
While I will continue to post every day on FB (despite being shadow banned), look for me on these other up and rising platforms!
With more than 1 BILLION active people on FB, do you think it's possible for them to control the narrative of what we're saying and what we think? You betcha!
It's time to stand up against censorship.
Sending you all infinite LOVE and LIGHT,
Gregg

Welcome to Steemit Greg!
In fact I am newer here than you. I have followed in5d for years, and have occasionally wanted to communicate with you, but Facebook was always a definite no-go for me, and you never listed any email account. Nothing else to say right now, except great work you do and I harmonize with you.
