For a long time it was a mistery for me why things like snowboarding or surfing (and many similar) are so enjoyable.
Then I found a perfect explanation offered by Jordan Peterson: those activities give you pure joy because they place you on the very edge separating chaos and order - you need to consonantly keep the balance between having control and letting it go. And being right on this edge (not too much chaos and not too much order) gives you the divine feeling of doing something meaningful, as meaning is generated by extracting order out of chaos and to do this you need to be right between those two.
