What do you do when you have an awkward silence in a conversation. You have a backup topic that you can always talk about. Everyone should have a few topics that they are comfortable speaking on at any time. This is a good skill to have to prevent awkward silences. Let's practice this conversation strategy. Awkward silence in a conversation is the worst thing that can happen. You lose confidence in your ability to speak because you think that "the silence" is your fault. It isn't. Awkward silences are completely normal. So if you are prepared for them with a backup topic, you can be a great conversationalist.
Today's questions:
What movie did you recently watch?
Was it good?
What was it about?
How does the movie start?
Then what happens?
Wow. Then what?
Was the ending good?
Would you recommend that I see it too?
What kind of movies do you normally watch?
Practice these conversation questions with me while you are alone. There is no pressure in my lessons, so you can relax and answer to the best of your ability.
