How did we go from this:
to this:
You can judge were society is headed by the way they dress. Only a few decades ago it was necessary to be well dressed to:
1.Interview for a job
2. To keep a job
3. To ask the parents permission to date their child
4. To go to church, just to name a few.
I guess those days are long gone. I spoke recently to a Mr. Tutt, who owned a men's clothing store for over 40 years. He had to shut his doors due to a lack of business. He lamented how his families business could no longer stay open because "...no one dresses up anymore. Not even bankers". That is when it hit me. He is right, no one does dress up anymore. I started to notice professionals like CPA's, Real Estate agents, Insurance agents, Bankers, Salesman and even Chiropractors and none of them where a dress shirt and tie. It is either a Polo or dress shirt without a tie. Wow, times have changed. It was not that long ago that even Kirby vacuum cleaner door salesman wore a tie!
How about people today out in the public. Have you noticed the clothing (or lack there of) that people are wearing at the grocery store or Wal-Mart. I swear that people are wearing pajamas out in public. In fact, you will find on YouTube video after video of "People of Wal-Mart". Just take a look at one of those videos and see what i mean.
Yes, I feel that we are declining fast as a society. I look at the clothing, hair styles and body piercings and I know something is not right. Hey, maybe this is what happened to the Roman empire. Perhaps towards the end they too wore pajamas out in public and they had their version of "People of Wal-Mart
Great post.. really makes you stop and think what's going on.
I agree. I am both saddened and worried. Thank you for reading and commenting. I appreciate it!
I do not have piercings, yet have learned quite a bit from some of those individuals, pierced or otherwise... I've also learned quite a bit from those whose appearance doesnt fit into any present or past status quo limitations... Let's not forget the fact that some of todays appearance's were established by those reflecting a polar opposition to the oppression handed down by the well dressed... Some would point out that the appearance of any succeeding generation, is a degredation of societies moral standing because it has evolved (or devolved).
