I've been watching the berries ripen from red to black for the past few weeks as I walked down the lane to the allotment, & tonight was the night that some pickin' got done.
Here's a picture looking down the lane with the Blackberry bushes on the left. My dog Ted & my two children are also in the picture if you can make them out.
I reckon I was only picking for about 20 minutes but I managed to get around a kilo (2.2lbs) of lovely juicy berries.

For some reason mine did not do as well this year in Ohio though the plants went crazy. The birds pretty much ate them before I could get any worth picking. My friends grandmother used to make a blackberry cobbler that was out of this world.
