This all sounds very familiar!
I had my eyes done with lasik about 4 years ago, and still the result is flawless!
The only thing I regret is that I hadn't done it any earlier.
Watch out with sand outside, this stayed tender on my eyes for multiple weeks
Earlier I had no possibility to do it, but now yes, it's flawless:)
