A Tribute to Women in the Blockchain and Beyond. Support & Respect for All

in #blog7 years ago

This day, women are celebrated all over the world in many places of the world.

But do we have to celebrate only one day per year? (And this goes for every National Day)

Well No, but every now and then it does help when this one day every year we remember to

  • share statistics1
  • remember that there is still a huuuge gender gap in many sectors (Blockchain included)2
  • share inspirational quotes all over social media
  • Women, Numbers and Stories sometimes help us remember the child hidden within

I must admit that plenty of times, I feel really inspired with the truth in people stories

I was not sure if I would write a themed article today; But when a few days ago, this article came to my feed, I knew that I had to present this wonderful initiative to the world.

There is no point of keeping secrets, when you see something that is made with a lot of love and is full of hope for the future; Then you need to help and bring that project forward.
Help in putting another brick in the wall. [Thoughts continued after the little pink heart. Scroll to find it]

So, for you who might not already know them…

    Meet the @steemsugars !

    promo by @soundwavesphoton

Steemsugars is an idea by @meanmommy33 taking shape and flesh after the famous SteemFest that took place in Lisbon last year3. The main idea was to

bring more 'female power' on the platform
    source

    Yes, but WHY?

The idea was perceived after noticing an astonishing 20% of women (only) taking part in the SteemFest of Lisbon.

How will this initiative be promoted?

    from @meanmommy33 article

By promoting Steemit to other Women, explaining and helping them understand the concept and start blogging!
By doing relevant posts [the first one coming up shortly!] and resteem supporters, promoters and fellow female Steemians who are new and are learning the platform just now!
By starting a research on Steemit to find other women and follow them, commenting on their content as @steemsugars and furthermore, research about Women centered events or even create them.

Where can we find the steemsugars?

They have a very lively and active Discord Channel and I do suggest that you join them!
They have also just created a new Twitter and Instagram and you can meet them there And also
Do not forget to follow them on steemit

    What’s New?

You might want to participate in their Logo Contest with a 10SBD prize
And I suggest that you absolutely read the latest interview by @meanmommy33 with @gabyoraa, a proud mum and photographer from Venezuela, who is documenting the protests and movements going on in her country.

hmmmm.. Are men eventually allowed in the team?

Well in the words of sweet @meanmommy33

We don’t always get boys on @steemsugars .. but when we do, the’re awesome!

So feel free to follow, support them, say hi and be inspired by the @steemsugars!

    Some final thoughts

I do not think that the whole point is for women to be superior or be equal. People are People.Values are there or are not. Respect should exist for everyone, independently of their gender, color, nationality, state. This is why I strongly believe that we need pure hearts and we should not think "Who am I to save the world?". It all starts in us individually and we need to believe in ourselves in order to step forward and make an impact.

You are not a drop in the ocean. Be the ocean in a drop.

And this stands for each and everyone of us.

Greetings, sweet Katherine.

I fully understood why you had scratched your post. Indeed, it is not everywhere that this day can be "celebrated", because in Muslim countries there is still a strong macho culture that subjects women to their control. I hope that over the years and with society increasingly understood of these issues, everyone can have a voice and help women there and be "free".

Many thanks for your beautiful post !!!!

Thank You for visiting and commenting :)
I totally agree; I wanted this post to be motivational and not describing the (oh too many) problems faced by girls and women (but only) in the whole world.
This post showcases some of the most severe problems of which we should be aware..
Let's hope for a better tomorrow ..
Thank you again :)

Love so many things about this! Thanks for putting it on my radar, @meanmommy33, and thank you for such an inspiring post, @katerinaramm!

Thank you so much for dropping by and taking the time to leave a comment :)

This made my day

You are not a drop in the ocean. Be the ocean in a drop.

Thanks for sharing. #steemsugars are now my new steem family. Their support and sincere concern about Venezuela has really touched me deeply.

Thank you for dropping by! 💙

Χρόνια σας πολλά... πολύ όμορφο post..😀😀😀

Lovely post highlighting #SteemSugars! They are an incredible group and we're happy to have you with us. 💓

Thank you so much for visiting! I did not know your existence but I will make sure to follow your posts too :)

Well in my opinion the only good from celebrating woman's day is educational purposes.
Real men must not wait this day to treat their woman(mothers, sisters, girlfriend) good.A real man must treat with respect and love everyday.
But this is just my opinion.

looks like i was banned for discord cos..no idea... XD
cool community guys...love to know why...>> is it cos i get NSFW? that's usually the reason round here...

I am not so sure, it is best if you contact the team for that :)
Thanks for visiting!

ya ill just post on one of their posts and see if i get a response...thanks!

You really don’t know? It’s not just the nsfw part, but all the team wondered what your message is by that last post you put on post promo (because technically that’s all we know of you, unfortunately). What are you trying to convey to a group of 200 women by trying to promote your tits and ass?(sorry to be blunt)

......because I'm not sexist and don't assume you are all straight women for one... [lol] also because I assumed as a group FOR women you would be women open to women who do adultwork and promote healthy sexuality. I suppose i was wrong. My main thinking was "oo a group for women on steemit. maybe they'll accept me!" since I have a helluva time promoting NSFW content on steemit overall regardless if it's just fap material or artistic erotica or articles about the cammodel world and adult industry in general. [shrug] Steemit is actually super unwelcoming to the adult community which SUCKS since we get fucked out of proper payment as well and would thrive on a platform such as this if given the chance. Sadly the only NSFW steemit gets as a result is asshats who spam stolen porn for $ that the models who made said content will never see...and I guess[?] Im flattered that you all know of me...????

and look, i get it on the not introducing myself first side. there was some super feminist discussion going on in general at the time and i was kinda like "hmm maybe not for meeee...." and so i threw up a post to see how it would go..and it went as it did. i really just wanted clarification for the why. if it was just the no intro then cool sorry lemme back in and ill intro the hell outta myself..but since you've already implied that the group "knows" me i don't know if that super welcoming anyways... also since i do mostly NSFW content overall and you seem..uncool with that for women overall....i dont know what to do with that. [shrug]

I understand your views even though I don't agree with all of them, because they are veeery different than mine. That doesn't make me sexist.I just still have the right to choose what content and/or people I'd like to have in my group. That has nothing to do with sex orientation or nsfw per se - as I said before.
Of course I'm not online on discord 24/7 -even if that's my community- so I might have missed that discussion you're talking about [and I don't promote it either], but either way, as a curator, among other things, I don't like this type of content. I'm sorry if that hurts your feelings, but -even though few- we do have some rules at @steemsugars :((( So the reason, to clarify and end this, was multiple -not just one thing. We can't all agree on this platform, unfortunately.

oh no i didn't assume you have issues with sex orientation..it was just a rebuttle to why I'd advertise to both sexes that all =) and yep thats fine you're obviously allowed to have your opinion and shape your group as you choose. happy steemin'

Ah ah I got it wrong :/ My bad!
Because I'm sure not all women on steemsugars are straight - some might be lesbians, or bi, for sure - so I just wanted to make sure everyone knows that's not a problem and will never be, for me personally or the group !!!
Thanks for understanding again, and sorry for the mess. I do feel bad about it - be sure of it :(
You too girl
