Education must lead to a total change in conduct or behaviour. To educate means to nurture or train. I keep on asking my self this question. Has education attained its intended purpose? The answer to the question is definitely no.
Where were our books when our highly educated doctors do smoke at the detriment of their health. Our police take bribe and still say they have received training.
Is it not a pity to see teachers drunk and shabily and indecently dressed and say they are custodian of knowledge.
Bhagirathu sahu 2008 defines education as Education seeks to achieve a cognitive dimension (brain),an affective development (heart) and psychomotor improvement (hands and legs). However, our attention is geered towards achieving the cognitive and psychomotor while we neglect the affective dimension. We need to understand that education is holistic and must achieve its intended goals and aspirations.Good morals and proper conduct will be exhibited by those who undergo formal education and the world would be a good place to live .
Very true! But who are we to blame when examinations test our memories not our intelligence. How can the fish be made to go through the same test as the elephant? Its a pity!
You made points bro. But i believe that having and reading the books do actually call for change esp. in behavioral pattern until we applied the acquired knowledge. Doctors will stop smoking if they retire all other factors and consider the note that "smoking is harmful to your health". Similarly, the police and others will stop taking bribes when they acknowledge that it is not an incentive but crime.
The worse of it is bribery in our educational institutions these days, which has sugar coated and neatly package in disguise called PROTOCOL.... These institutions harbour books oooo. Hahaha
