It's Important to Remember Good Times When You Are Hurting!

The picture above was taken April 2012 around the peak of my rave DJ career. In a matter of a year or so I'd turned myself from a nobody to one of the most celebrated local DJ's in the scene. I'll never forget this night. It was the first time I'd ever spun vinyl records in front of a live dance floor. Before then I'd strictly used MIDI controllers or time vinyl setups.

If you've never DJ'd before it's hard to explain the magic that takes place when you get 2 circular chunks of plastic spinning at just the right speeds with the right sound EQ to make a good mix. While I believe anyone that can count to 4 can DJ with the modern setups and indicators given it's pretty easy to separate the boys from the men when you stick a "DJ" in front of an analog mixer and 2 turntables.

Feeling a bit in the dumps tonight, But going back and looking at my old photos certainly perked me up a bit and I figured I'd share this memory with our STEEM network.

We all have come from different walks of life with varying degrees of difficulty.. None of that really matters at the end of the day. The important thing is we are still here and capable of reaching potentials far greater than we are achieving now. Have a good one folks.

Totally agree... so many hidden talents, another DJ :) perhaps you can join @kevinwong in our next SteemFest?!

Depending on where it is this year I'll be there if possible.

We do have a few DJs for sure here in Steemit.. :D

I can't say I enjoy the DJing type of parties and music, but I do know what music can do for a person's state of mind. I'm happy to see this picture and memory got your spirits up a bit!

I'm a sucker for a good bassline and dancing.

Needed something to lift my spirits tonight. I can't sleep and it's better than sitting here miserable.

I usually go for the rock/metal kind of music and skip the dancing.

Oh yes, gotta do something to get your mind off! Writing about stuff can usually be a good remedy (not necessarily public writing). Looking back on pictures is great too, they give you smiles :-)

It was another life time it feels like.

That's great, remembering good time is awesome for sure, but watch out, it can get addicting ! I've lost so much time wandering around, lost in the past lol.

I never knew you were into DJ'ing! I was into DJ'ing about 10 years ago but I used Ableton and MIDI. Kudos. What kinda genre were you playing?

You're awesome @klye! That was a really fun post. I really enjoyed it! Let's look forward for a brighter future but also let's reminisce on the good old days all the while staying in the present moment.

@KLYE thanks for this post.. and remember you don't have to grow up, you just have to grow old ;) You could totally get back into it man! Start a podcast or online stream... Maybe do a youtube channel.. some of those people are making 6 figures!~ you can do anything you put your mind to ;) !!

Great post and very good suggestion, Remembering better times can be a great way to heal.

Part of it is reminiscing in the "glory days" but then realizing that I've still got plenty of glory days left ahead of me if I apply myself and stay focused. A bit saddened tonight, caused by a handful of things, some of which I caused but I'm still "doing alright" in the grand scope of things. I have been far worse off than I am now. :)

Have a good one man.

Applause for this DJ.
Cool music @klye

Thanks man I do sort of miss rockin' the underground but eventually had to grow up and not party for a living.

You can hear the picture?
