Who here is ready for another life blog entry? Here is how my week has gone.
Let's sit back and appreciate that I got a job working at RedruM in my town. Not let's also take time to apprectiate that they called me yesterday.. and told me that they couldn't keep me at my position, because the person who was supposed to be quitting didn't leave their job.. (it is a family run store)
I absolutely love that store. I buy my Kratom, Kanna and other various herbs there, because it is a solid place to buy herbs from. I am sad to say, that i will no longer be working there and glad to say that they will be calling me back the second they have an opening because they were happy with my work performance.. ON ANOTHER NOTE.. I will also be doing street performance. So. If you live in the downtown Anoka, MN area and are looking for a good show.. I will most likely be at Avant garden playing either sax or Accordion on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from December 1st to the first warm day of spring. After that, I will be performing across the street from Smokedale and Redrum at the Anoka fountain in the morning hours unless there is bad weather in which case I will be at Avant Garden until noted otherwise.
So yeah, the universe said to stop working jobs and start blogging and street performing and blogging about my street performing and making jokes about my blogs in my street performance. I will be making business cards and pamphlets as well as my own personal hand drawn art (prints of it to sell) and a few other things that I enjoy to do.
The point of this article is.. If you have a passion, and you can't keep a job, look for ways to make money doing your passion.
There is no permit required for street performing in Anoka MN. The city of Anoka just asks that you ask permission before setting up for a street performance and the police department just asks that you do not actively harass or verbally ask for money. Having a box with the words "Gifts and donations welcome" written on it is acceptable, but playing songs and saying "give me money bitch" is not okay.
If you are a traveling street performer, please make your way to Anoka, MN if you are already swooping on through! It would be a good idea that you also call the police department after asking permission of the store owners to perform, and let them know that you will be performing, where you will be performing, and what your act will be. This is so that they can better protect and serve you in our city. They might patrol the street that you are performing on more frequently to ensure that your tips, gifts, and donations do not get stolen, or they may even stand by and listen/watch for a while!
I will most likely be promoting my friends who are shop owners in town during my performances.
When busking remember:
- Don't block of streets or sidewalks.
- Don't be rude or aggressive when asking for money.
- Humans respond better to comedy, so purposely failing and making it a part of your act is actually going to get you a better response from the crowd, especially if you are a traveling Automaton or something similar.
- Always put 100% into your work.
- Try to make everyone in your audience comfortable. Having a small bowl of candy to give to children to enjoy while they watch is something that parents and children enjoy!
- Make the experience personal! Between sets ask the crowd or audience if they have any questions, or requests from your set list. Ask them if they would like to take pictures with you before the next song.
- Ask all store owners permission before busking in front of their shop, and ask if there is a daily special that they would like for you to promote between sets! Small business owners eat that shit up!
- Also, last but not least!! Be safe and have a good time!!
You are a bad-ass because you play the accordion!!! You should post some video of you playing the sax or the accordion here on Steemit!
Oh yeah! Definitely on the way once I figure out how to use dtube!
