BKK CITY!!

Most tourists enjoy the beautiful and tropical islands in southern Thailand, often missing out on what a cool city Bankok really is.
Im not talking about the tourist Khao san road, where westerners meet to drink from buckets and eat fried cockroaches. I want to show you my favourite things to do in this crazy city.

Probably the first thing you notice when you arrive is the wall of humid hot stickyness mixed with a heavy cloud of pollution! Yes it's fucking hot, and no it won't get better! Bangkok is the hotest city in the world!
Luckily Bangkok is a Mega city on the rise with new super shopping malls popping up every year. Inside you can breath real cold air, enjoy food from all over the world, go get plastic surgery or just a haircut.
These top modern shopping paradises is nothing like the local mall in your hometown. here is my list of favourite shopping centers in BKK.

(#1) Terminal 21
This shoppingcenter is designed to look like an airport, with a different themed part of the world on each level.
You can find allot of alternative shops with unique fashion and cool gadgets.
On the top floors there is a cinema showing movies in english. If you bring your date for dinner and and a movie you can even rent a mini sofa in the back of cinema so that you can get real close and personal.
Of corse you can eat food from all over the world, maybe not those fried cockroaches, but who eats those anyway?

(#2) MBK
MBK shopping center is not as stylish as Terminal 21, MBK is the largest shopping center in Asia and is mostly filled with anything electronic, computers, cameras, bootleg movies and so on. its a must see it you visit Bangkok and love this kind of stuff.

(#3) Chatuchak Market
This is not a shoppingmall but a gigantic outside market. If you cant find what you are looking for on this market, you probably cant find it anywhere in BKK! everything from Pets, furniture, fashion, vintage shopping, food, art and allot of random crap you didn't know you needed until you payed for it. Bring allot of money because you will probably spend a whole day there only explore half of the market.

Bangkok Skytrain is the best way to get around town. They run every 5- 10 min and are very comfortable and super cold :D
Many of the stops takes you directly to the shopping malls, no need to sweet!
I do not recommend grabbing a taxi in, especially if you are in the more touristy arias, you will most likely get ripped off or get stuck in the bad traffic. If you decide to take a cab, make sure the driver turn on the meter.

FOOD LOVERS <3
The food in Bankok is so much better than on the islands. Bankok city offer you the real deal, not just green curry and pad thai.
You can find five star restaurants or just grab food mamas streetfood hidden in the a narrow ally.
My favourite street food is crispy pork with Chinese kale, or duck in broth.

After a long day of shopping and eating i often got a massage from the local massage place. If its your first time geting a massage i would recommend you to start our easy, these women may look sweet but they got fists made of metal and will make your bone pop! There are allot of unserious "massage" joints, with sexy Thai women louring men in for more than just a regular massage. This business is often a corrupt scam involving both the police and the massage joint. (keep it in jour pants boys)

If you been to Thailand and never got scammed, you probably played it to safe!
Talk about safe some people go to Thailand thinking it will be like the movie "The beach" Smoking weed and fooling around town, The police is very corrupt and work with the Thai maffia. While staying in Thailand i met may tourist that fell for this trap.
One guy had a joint in his pocket when the police stoped him on the street.
He was left with two alternatives 1: To pay 1000 dollar to the police or 2: To spend a possible lifetime in prisson.

BTW, me and my 2 brothers stayed 3 months at a very cool hotel called Imm fusion on Sukhumvit road.
Its a perfect cool looking hotel with inspiration of Thai and Moroccan design. they got their own spa, bar and restaurant with a delicious breakfast.

Sort:

Great advice. I want to check out Thailand at some point. I thought it was legal to have weed there? So basicalky do t gey caught with it or it could be serious trouble?

Thanx! weed is more accepted on the island, some clubs and bars are ok with it. But in BKK its a different story. The price to pay is way to high!

weed is considered a really bad drugs in Thailand though, you could still find it easily in some touristy spots.

Saw you said you might come check out Thailand at some point.. if you love food totally check out @WAYBEYONDPADTHAI for the real authentic Thai food. I wrote it all myself and hope it's useful for people traveling in Bangkok or Thailand ;)
