LOS ANGELES
Me and my brothers lived the American dream in in LA for five dreamy years.
I remember the first day we arrived "home" like it was yesterday.
After a 14 hours long flight from Stockholm Sweden we where crawling out from our taxi, in to a hostel simply called American youth hostel.
I remember it had this distinct smell and where slightly humid hot in there.
We payed the girl in the reception, got to our room and crashed in the bunk beds.
Woke up hours later all sticky by something smelly thinking what is going on here?!
i looked down on my hand, in that moment i realised some one in our bunk had got sick all over me while i was a sleep.
That's what i call a warm welcome to America :D
It was also the last time we ever lived in a hostel.
After a long shower, we walked outside for the very first time.
The Hostel was located in the epicenter of tacky tourist attractions, Star maps, star line busses, Marilyn Monroe and spiderman posing for money possible to buy crack, people taking photos of the starwalk.
It was amazing to finally be there, but i remember thinking is this it?
Of course not!!!
That's just "Hollywood" A small district in a huge and exiting city, full of life.
If you go to Los Angeles as a tourist i would recommend you NOT to spend to much of your time running around Hollywood blvd. Instead i will make a list of beautiful, fun and tasty places you must visit.
MELROSE AVE
Just a few blocks away from Hollywood blvd, you will find the hip and trendy aria called Melrose.
This district is full of unique boutiques, cafe's and restaurants and is a very chill place to just relax or go shopping.
its just a beautiful green place with with palm trees, beautiful townhouses from the golden age and a spectacular view of Hollywood hills.
Every Sunday theres a outside flea market. You can find real treasures and just about anything if you dig trough the piles of stuff.
There's allot of good places to eat around Melrose.
One of my absolute favourite places is called Canters. This is a real classic that's been around sins the 1930s and i bet you the place has never changed, staff might even be original :D
At this deli/bakery/restaurant you can enjoy real home cocked food grandma style!! Best of all it is open 24/7 and serve thanksgiving food all year round.
Have a look at this beautiful badboy!
GRIFFITH OBSERVATORY/ PARK
This is a must do, especially if you are interested in stars and planets, darkmatter or supernova explosions. Griffith observatory is a Space museum with a huge telescope where you can admire the stars a little bit closer.
Even if this kind of stuff bores you to death, the view is to die for! In fact its a very romantic place to bring some one you like, no need to talk!! Let the view of a million glimmering city lights speak for itself.
SUNSET STRIP
This is where the cool kids come out to play at night!
A rock n roll heaven, packed with classic rock bars such as Rainbow Bar and grill that has been the #1 hang out for many rockstars sins 1972.
Lemmy was a huge fan of this bar.
you can also find The Comedy Club and The Laugh Factory, great places for standup comedy. Many comedians and actors started their careers on these venues.
THIS IS COMEDY!!!
There is so much more to blog about this amazing city, we have just scratched the surface.
OH!! and don't forget to visit Venice beach!! or Malibu beach!!
PROS
+Some thing fun is waiting behind every corner.
+Diverse city with something that suits everybody.
+Close to the beach.
+Music concerts and live venues.
+A city that never sleep.
CONS
-Some arias are not safe (allot of gangs)
-The LA trafic is horrible.
-Hollywood blvd stings like piss!
-The rent is sky high.
-Allot of pollution
But all of the cons give LA that dangerous sexy vibe that we love so much!
DONT BE A STRANGER!!!

@landeberg
:D
I visited for 2 days last years and although it was a cool city to visit, I felt a little disappointed. What I understood from people who lived there as well is that its more about enjoying the lifestyle longterm over visiting for a short period of time...
That is true! Los Angeles is a place that grows on you the longer you stay until you become part of it.
That means I have got to go back once...and maybe stay a little longer then ;)
Ive never had the chance to visit LA but I do want to. Thanks for the post. It's got me thinking about LA again.
You really should! its such a cool place. One day i will move back there.
