My college is about to start but I feel careless about it. I took some uninteresting courses just to fill out my study course this year. I would willing to die just so I could go back having an endless discussion about hero, celtic's culture, the native american god and goddesses while also having some history classes about the emerge of English as a recognized worldwide language and some pretty deep talk about utopia from Thomas more.
I couldn't really remember how long has it been since I talk to my colleagues. I don't really like my circle and has been limiting my friendship ever since. However, college is all about networking. for the fact, that my classes is about to start and I have missed out some important notes of when and how I should get my professor signature to continue my study. I am in a point where I think going to college is definitely wasting my time by having a less meaningful and boring conversation for about 2 hours compared to conversation I have with my peers outside the school.
Networking so far has played an important role throughout my study years. I've proved that without it, I barely survive. During my freshman year, I had no friends at all because I wasn't even using a kind of messenger people use and also, I was not having too much of a social media like people at my age. I don't even have facebook and none of them use facebook.
So, I was really on my own, relaying every possible sources I could find like my faculty boards and lecturers.I was also taking every important notes just to make sure I don't miss any homework, events or important dates from the faculty.Although, I missed out some gossips and a whole lot of drama but I was more focused on my study. Then, as time passing by, I made a friend and I had the same messenger like all people do. They indeed love to remind one another about the homework but it made me lazier to make my own notes. I grew more dependent on people rather than to myself. I obviously feel lazier and I thought I could get any information simple just because I have friends who would do that for me.
I have also made several seniors friend who would tell me a thing or two ways to survive in the college, the city and where to get booze supplies, students discount nightclubs and some odd things I might be interested in joining in. It was also relieving to see more of my seniors are more open minded towards open relationship, living together and things which my current society oppose.
Well, I'd say networking everywhere is important. Even on steemit, networking plays a crucial role where you could enhance your post view, upvote, re-steem and knowledge.
I think you could even take sides and support things which truly matters. Some people only votes their peers, some don't but well that's just how it works almost everywhere. One thing for sure, never follow things blindly and keep your individual side intact. Also, always trust your gut.
Here's a kind of song people listen to in this era, I love the way she's talking about the high life " roll the joint, wait for it to kicks and sipping some coffee"💓

if you really hate it and don't care about the whole college experience it's possible to save yourself sometime. If you know the basic skills of whatever career you want to go into, just start applying. Tbh, this pretty much only works in computer science as if you're driven then you can learn everything on your own. Plenty of large silicon valley corps/start-ups have hired ppl like that. You wouldn't necessarily miss out on the social factor as you could join a club at some nearby college n explain your story.. If you have a decent network of current professionals that can vouch for your skills then it's even easier..
As to what you were saying about tech making things worse, I kinda agree. I used to do everything myself and have almost no distractions, but since I became more immersed in using tech, my productivity has gone down. The friends part isn't really dependent on that as that comes down to your own willingness to put yourself out there... I've started cutting back on most of my distractions and use very few services I used to. You could also get a blackberry, they're used in the prof. setting often in high finance and dont really make you want to use common distractions. What's your major btw?
