The city is wet, but frequent showers continue to water and water it again and again. Oh,indeed, it would be better if they went to where the authorities are inactive and our forests are burning in distant Siberia.
St. Petersburg rain has become an integral symbol of the city.He has long been registered in the city on the Neva and is a full citizen. We even have a monument to this phenomenon of nature.
But the townspeople take their bright umbrellas and jumping over puddles in a hurry about their business. Now only these umbrellas and make the city a little elegant, when everything looks gray and dull.
Today it is my quick drawing on a wet theme. I tried to depict a piece of Nevsky prospect - the main street of St. Petersburg.
This street is like a wide slow river that carries me to the Golden spire at the beginning of the Avenue.
This main street ,with its length of about five kilometers, crosses several rivers and canals and flaunts in front of us the facades of 240 different buildings, unlike each other.
For my drawing I used watercolor paper (A4 size and density 280 g), watercolor paints, brushes synthetic №№ 7,3.1, graphic pencil and soft eraser.
This legendary Avenue was founded by Peter the Great in 1710. So it conducts its history to the present day, without changing its appearance. This street is like an open-air Museum, where each house is a great history and a great value.
Initially, the Avenue was planned straight as an arrow, starting from the Admiralty building and ending at the Alexander Nevsky Lavra, so that this Golden spire was visible throughout. And the construction was started simultaneously from two directions. From the other side of the monastery it began to lay the monks, and from the Admiralty - the sovereign's people.
the photo with the historic overlay are taken from free access to the Internet.
But something went wrong. There was an error in the calculations and the result was a curve bend. According to legend, at the very place of the fracture, Tsar Peter ordered to carve the monks with rods. It was decided that it was their fault. And on that place the square where now the main railway station of our city is located was formed.
And, though through all Nevsky prospect this spire isn't looked through, from it the street didn't become less attractive and favourite by all.
During the holidays and various events the whole street is filled with a lot of people. Here for a while traffic is blocked and the street becomes pedestrian.
Life here does not cease even at night. Especially here a lot of walking during the white nights. It's nice to see a lot of people on the sidewalks . Citizens and guests of our city fill the open areas of summer cafes, enjoying the atmosphere of Nevsky Prospekt.
Thank you for taking the time to visit my blog :)) I'll see you soon...

Even though rain can be a pain at times you turned it into such a cool post
One thing I see often in NYC when it rains it is often windy as well and you see broken photos everywhere, is it the same there
A strong wind from the Baltic sea also often brings us many problems, especially when it begins to drive a wave. But it is good that for several years the city has been protected by a new dam. We hope that it is reliable :)). Thank you, @tattoodjay !
lets hope the dam is reliable and keep everyone safe
Watercolours if a fitting medium to make art in a rainy city:) Amazing photographs, it looks like a really beautiful city:)
@georgeboya, Thank you for Your attention and support :))

I'm glad you found it interesting. There are so many amazing places with different history in the world and we here at Steemit have a great advantage to communicate and travel:))
There are so many places, and maybe we can't get to see them all by ourselves. This is why it is great to see them at least on the photos in the post like yours.

What a great post! I love how you combine your photography with history and then throw in some art. I love your watercolor. It brings such life and cheer to what could have been a gloomy scene.
They say that nature has no bad weather :)) So I also try to see something positive even in such rainy landscapes.
