Six months ago I wrote a post called Dreams & Aspirations of a life on the road explaining how we had decided that we wanted to live on the road touring in a motorhome and that that was the life for us - but we had some debt to clear, I felt it was time for an update.

I am pleased to say we did clear that debt and now have around £5k in savings towards our new life, it sounds like a lot but in reality its roughly 10%, This isn't a cheap thing to do but we are pleased for what we have accomplished in 6 months.

Sometimes its hard too see the end of such a massive task but we will keep going no matter what!

One thing we like to do is buy small things we will need inside the van - buying them now means we can wait for good deals and buy cheap, rather than have to dash and buy everything full price! every penny is important, I wont show you all the various pots/pans/cutlery and kitchen stuff we have bought, but a few motorhome specific items.

Here we have the electrical hook up cable, and some handy non slip matting to line cupboards with.

Here is a few kitchen related items, everything here (apart from the melamine plates) has silicon, this is great because not only is it non slip but it wont rattle during transport and apparently that is a issue!

Its these little things that keeps us going:)

Recently we have started using the power of steem to crowdfund to help us towards our goal. We would never crowdfund using more traditional methods (asking for cash donations via gofundme ect) simply because there is so many more needy causes than us, we are not ill and we can eventually do this one day in the future - but with what feel like an impossible task steemit really comes into play!

You can donate to our goal simply buy upvoting our content and resteeming, thats it! Each and every vote counts. You can find our current crowdfund goals here..

We thought it would be nice to have something for the van to remind us about all who supported us along the way so we have started making this board, we are using a wood burning process and will add a name when a goal is completed of someone who is interested in our journey and helping us along the way:) once done this will come with us wherever we go.

Sometimes It is hard to do updates when its such a large task, but we are glad to be able to do this one, in six months time since the last update not one thing has changed - apart from the fact we are more determined than ever!

Thank you for joining us!

Thank you so much upfundme!

I will try to upvote as many of your posts as I see and support your dream as I have a similar dream. Keep on believing in it, one day it will work out! And doing small investments in stuff for the van is a really good way to stay on top of you dream.

My dream also.. except I want a short bus

A bus would be really cool, so spacious! I have seen some amazing bus conversions.

Thank you bejaunt that would be awesome! we will certainly keep going to we get there one day and we hope you do soon too - Thank you for stopping by :)

We are in a similar situation. We have modified a school bus and are trying to get our family on the road FT. It is definitely an adventure!

Here's to happy travels ahead!

Thats so cool! how did you find modifying the schoolbus? any major hurdles to overcome? we will going the boxer/ducato route as there is only the two of us.

The major piece of advice I will give is, with an older schoolbus, it is definitely worth your while to take out the subfloor and rebuild. There was a lot of rot under the rubber flooring, so taking it down to the metal, while it was a pain at times, was definitely the wiser choice.

When we bought the plywood for the subfloor, we didn't have anything big enough to haul full sheets, so I had the sheets cut in half (4 x 4). This was also a timesaver, as the bus width was right at 7 1/2 feet, and we were able to lay the half sheets down one side and then cut the other side to fit. Fewer cuts, less hassle with obstacles, and easier to handle all around.

I did a couple videos before I was on steemit, I may put in some tutorials eventually.

Sounds like you did end up saving yourself a lot of future headaches! Posting some tutorials up on steemit would be a great idea!

Its looks like such a nice lifestyle, we are going into it with eyes wide open and do realise it wont all be perfect, but waking up wherever you choose and going wherever the wind take you is priceless.

That is really cool! I am honored. That will be really neat when it is done. Keep up the good work.

Thank you greenie, a idea we came up with and I think once complete will make a nice feature in the van:) the plan is to have it spiral round until it reaches the center.
