It is very cold here in the workshop, but I still love it.
Funny thing, in Canada I wouldn't have considered this "very cold" because we lived in Alberta where there was basically zero humidity most of the time, but here in Jolly Ye Olde there is a LOT of humidity.
We are in a flat, watery area. Rivers and such. But the country is so tiny and being an island, the entire zone is surrounded by water anyway.
This plays havoc with 3d printing and also makes any cold really penetrate your bones.
I have a fan blowing hot air on my feets so that I don't permanently turn into a Chriscicle.
This is probably why I spent the last week being sick. Or maybe just correlation != causation, who knows.
But we had three lasers go down too, all during a time my wife was prepping for a yarn festival and needed to make products. Not fun.
The Atomstack thinks it is a Cylon. It's very angry.
Our two Glowforge Basic units also died at the same time, but they have given us years of trusty service so I can't be too mad at them.
We call them Rocky and Bullwinkle. B has an "interlock" error which apparently is a return to mothership issue, I am not sure we have the budget for that right now (especially as the very important original packaging is in a landfill in Canada).
Rocky has had one ribbon cable replaced and the other is out of stock. I ordered a third party part from the USA at 40x the price (literally) to rush a fix. Hopefully that gets here soon.
All USA parts are going to get way more expensive soon if the orange one gets his tarrifs, but presumably someone will share what the original chinese supplier SKU is so I can in future bypass the middle man.
Of course my wife will claim that she has been taking care of these machines (they became "hers" years ago when she refused to learn LightBurn) but evidence suggests otherwise ...
Spot the difference
That sounds frustrating. It's not too cold down here in Bedfordshire, but that could soon change. I've heard the 3d printers can be fussy. I would quite like one, but would have to justify the expense.
It can be a pain to get spares for some things, but we should be encouraging repairs to cut waste.
Hope things improve.

It's amazing how useful a 3D printer can be, but I'd say we are still a long way from them being essential for 99% of people :)
I don't think Cheeto Mussolini will directly cause US export prices to rise, but if his import tariffs go through, retaliatory trade war nonsense could follow. I hope he has the balls to cut spending and military interventionism along with making real tax cuts for the average Joe.
I guess we’re in FO phase of FAFO
