Hey guys, I'm doing a bit of an update / blog since I know I've been relatively silent for a few days.
I just wanted to show you guys what I was able to get with all of your support and contributions, just kinda wanting to show you guys what I managed to acomplish and how I was able to invest in some equipment to further develop myself as a graphics designer!
Updating my setup
Well, I've been doing a little bit of investing on my setup.
So, first up, I picked up 3 extremely useful books for referencing.
Logo Modernism by Jens Muller, Julius Wiedemann
This is a bible of logo design collected from centuries of aging. It gives the reader references to logos, and what makes/made them work. Very nice for iconography and abstract designs on logos. This will be very useful for me when working on any branding projects. This book is fregin huge!!!
Draplin Design Co. Pretty much Everything by Aaron James Draplin
Now this is one hell of a book. I mean, everything about this book is presented right. So much detailing, even to the texture of the covers and indentations of the logos, down to the way it opens.
This is pretty much an inside of the head compilation of useful material, thought processes, Sketches, complete logos, infographics of a brilliant designer. I already know, I'm going to be burried under this book, and I'm not going to be coming out.
How to use graphic design to sell things, explain things, make things look better, make people laugh, make people cry, and (every once in a while) change the world. by Michael Bierut
I know the title sounds really rediculous, but this is a best seller for college studens learning design. I picked up this book to get inspired for promotional graphics and infographics. It's in a small hard covered book, and it's designed quite nicely. Can't wait to see what it offers me in terms of knowledge.
Aside from starting a collection of design books to help boost my skills in graphics designing. I also picked up a few other things.
Razer Chrome v2
This is the tactile and clicky version. This thing is seriously bad assed. I mean, this is techniqly the first mechanical keyboard I've ever owned. Since I know I'll be doing a lot of typing now thanks to steemit and writing articles and so on and so forth. Just thought since my keyboard was so old, it was time for an upgrade! And I'm really happy that I did. This thing types like a dream. It's so satisfying. Click click click.
Razer Mamba
Now, my old mouse was a razer Naga, and has been with me for years and years. Since 2006 actually. It served me well, but lately, the device has just been failing. So, I decided, well shit, time to get a replacement. And since Amazon has a prime sale going on right now, figured that getting a decent mouse would be really awesome.
It's a lot lighter then my older mouse, but still has weight to make it feel like it's not cheap. Way more surface area for my palm though. But more importantly it doesnt have any issues with sensativity or accuracy. Hell yes!
Additionally, I picked up some graphing paper and pencils, as my stock was growing low. Coloring pencils and pens to help with drafting.
I also got myself a new mouse matt. Which is highly inspirational.
Well guys, that's everything I have for today. I was just itching to give you guys an update. I am extremely hard at work though, I can promise you that.

nice man, congrats on your success in steemit, hope i can have success as well
The Razer Mamba looks kick ass!
Think it's time for an upgrade from my Naga.
Yeah man, it's awesome sitting here glowing, and everytime I click it glows reactively. It's pretty fregin awesome! Highly recommend it. It's on sale on amazon.
Oh how I am tempted but I do most my gaming on the p4 these days, hard to justify it. Got the Nacon pro controller for p4 a few days ago.
It sucks!
@malicered Congrats. Glad to hear things are working out. Just wanted to reach out and open your mind to possibilities. If you are open to branching out and launching your own website on your own domain I may be of help.
I've had so many of my asian friends (they love photos), and business owners, ask me to take out the background in their photos and photoshop in a new one. To accomodate them I built a website where they can pay me via Paypal, Bitcoin, or Steem. After paying, they upload their photos. I then edit and upload back to the website. I then send them a link to view and download their photos.
It can be expanded for logos, adding special effects to a photo or more. If a website like this would be of use to you let me know. It's always good to have your own site because no one can close it or kick you out.
Keep up the good work.
Thanks for the information malicered. I was thinking about buying a Razer mouse and keyboard before. I heard it's pretty good. Especially when the equipment was brought by Steemit money.
No problem at all. The keyboard feels amazing under my fingers. It has this really cool twinkling led effect, and every time I type the keys glow a different color! I love typing now!
It's more expensive but worth it.
Looks like some fun reading material. I dabbled in graphic design, but couldn't stay inspired enough to make a career out of it. I like to design for pleasure as a hobby and love looking at a well designed logo. But being required to do it every day for material that didn't interest me sucked all of the fun out of it. Plus, I started to get carpal tunnel syndrome from having to work so fast.
I love this, I love seeing creative people improve themselves and their craft using the proceeds from their previous work... it's what it's all about!!! :) good for you!
Great accessories you got there. Logo design is great graphic design niche. Wish I had learned Illustrator and Corel Draw when I had time.
Good books!
