Blog: What am I up to lately? A new series of sharing my mind. Post 1.

in #blog8 years ago (edited)

Hello, is anyone there?

I'm here. And I got to say, coming up with stuff lately has been hard. I want to call it Artistic Fatigue.

Artistic Fatigue..

Actually, It's because I've been reading all these book and realizing, shit, am I really that great? That thought process is so toxic for an artist. To lose confidence in one's work can be the death of an artist. I thought I was good, but when I really look into some of these Artist's works.. The amount of details and consideration.

The good thing is that I don't have a choice of dying out. So the only real option I have is to improve myself. A lot of people think that design is simple, easy, copy paste shapes and walaa, logo. That's not true at all. There is a lot of consideration and detail that goes into every great composition.

Anyway, I wanted to start up a blog series, to see if it will do any good. I find writing to be a therapuetic experience, especially blogging. And I'm just dying to put up more content.

My next Community Contribution

I'm currently working on a community contribution. Flyers for advertising and sharing the word of steemit.

Working on these things is pretty hard, I will say. Thinking about what to write and advertise, and coming up with a theme and style is much like staring at a blank canvas. So, what I want to do, is make a few of them, have a bunch of styles of what I think could work. Then share them to the community.

I know there's a contest going on out there. I don't support design contests however, but I will share my work for the community to use. No disrespect intended to anyone, just a matter of principle really. I'd give my work out freely than participate in a contest.

Commissions and projects.

Currently working with @rdollarsign to come up with a logo design for a project he has kicking up in motion. It's coming along greatly, but it's going to take some more time to get it done. Got to make sure that the design has breathing space. Working with @rdollarsign is very cool, the concept is challenging and forcing me to think outside the box, which is always good.

Also drafting up something for @privex for advertisement campaign. Should be interesting. I'd like to get into some Motion graphic advertisements.

Thinking about the future

I want to design a typography for Steemit, however, I do need to go through a sharp learning curve for typography, as it was never required in a project before. Learning typography is something that I want to do however, and I plan on releasing a full hand-done font for steemit. I will be working on this long term, and I would like to get an ipad to learn with, which pushes that goal back quite a bit.

Well, been trying to keep my posts short and sweet, so I want to thank you for joining me on this blog post. It's been very busy for me lately. But, that's just to be expected. Hope you join me next time.

Also, what would you guys think about me showing off my old work and explaining my thought process and criticism on them?

Thank you for reading!

I love this keyboard!

Typography is a complicated thing. To make a good font you can spend a whole human life.

However, typography can be studied without an iPad. But we live in the modern world and the designer must have all the new means for self-realization.

Great to have the desire and effort to learn something new! Good luck!

Well, I'd like to start shifting my work to a more digital platform, and we are getting to the point in technology where devices can simulate and assist with creation. I would be grabbing a high rated course from udemy or lynda to help me get started in the typography feild though. Thanks for reading and the support!

Yes, there are a lot of good courses now. And, probably, they cost a lot of money.

And, by the way, a good picture!

Looking forward to seeing what you do with this blog and what design concepts you come up with! Thanks for sharing!

Well, with any luck, something that people will want to read! Thank you very much for reading, I really appreciate it!

Thanks for the shoutout dawg! Seriously has been a blast working with you.

I'd love to see some of your old work !

Sorry for the late answer... I appear to have zapped over this post in my newsfeed. Just found it ! ;)
