Today I am taking you back to the open-air museum of my uncle in Sierpc and let me bring you closer to its traditions and entertainment, which are an important point of the museum. I will describe to you almost all of them that I know personally.
More than 80 wooden architecture objects from the North-West Mazovia region representing folk architecture from the second half of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century were collected at the Skansen in Sierpc. In addition, a brick mansion was reconstructed, the buildings of Przydworskie were reconstructed and a brick water mill was renovated.
The exhibition includes: 11 peasant farms (residential buildings, barns, cowsheds, granaries, pigsties), an inn, a forge, an oil mill, a windmill and a chapel. The appearance of peasant chambers is related to the annual calendar presented in the form of occasional exhibitions.
From April to June, they are decorated with colorful palms and Easter eggs, they invite you for Easter breakfast or pranks. From December to February the village lives Christmas. In the chambers, "sheaves" of cereal sheaves and Christmas trees decorated with hand-made toys, apples and gingerbread.
The remaining part of the year in the chambers is presented daily classes: making and baking bread, making curd, drying herbs, washing and ironing linen, pickling cucumbers and cabbage. Whitewashed with lime and thatched cottages surrounded by vegetable gardens and flower gardens, bordered by grazing animals, they give the impression of a village still lively. They create a natural scenery for demonstrations of traditional works and rural crafts presented during numerous and interesting outdoor events, such as Children's Day, the Festival of Honey Days, Harvest Festival.
From May to the end of September, open-air events in the open-air museum are held every Sunday and during the festival. The workshops of artists (blacksmith, weavers, embroiderers, sculptor, plaited guitarist) come to life, a rural band is playing, the fire is burning.

I certainly am very fond of this beautiful place.
That's a really neat place. We have a few similar outdoor museums from colonial days here in the United States. One near my house has an old army fort and log cabins. It's nice to be able to walk and see buildings from old eras when architecture and life were so different.
Wow I am interesting of your place :) I am so sure I would like it ;) Greetings
It looks really interesting and beautiful; reminds me of an "open air museum" in Denmark near where I grew up. They took old buildings from all over the country, disassembled them nail and brick, and then reassembled them perfectly in one park. Everything with the interiors complete, as they would have been, between 1500 and about 1850.
Very cool to see this!

I had no idea it was such an extensive museum @margaretwise. I thought it was just the building in the first of your posts.
It sounds like a really interesting place to visit, so many things going on. Your uncle must have his work cut out managing such an enterprise.
So you get to visit very often/ 😊
The museum is so big that couple hours of staying it is not enough :) That's why I love to visit it :) It is always something to do it. Greetings my dear :)

The thatched roofs are very beautiful and well crafted! The size of those barns are huge!! Good thing they have set up a museum of folk culture!!
It’s time we go back to learn to live simple life!
Cheers.
Everything is organized the animals have their places too :) I love my uncle's place because I can move in time ;)
You are so lucky to have a very wise uncle who had the foresight to preserve this for other generations of people. In my country, people just sell old stuff for money to spend on new electrical appliances!!
Just owww .. i m very impressed...thankyou very much margaretwise
