As you may have heard in many self development reading, in order to be successful you must surround yourself with like minded people. As an Entrepreneur that has found success, I can say that achieving this lesson was very difficult. It's not easy to find these unique, rare individuals, people who are willing to go through the failures, stresses in business, self starters. Searching for a Entrepreneur who has a can't quite attitude is very limited in supply, due to the way our society has dumbed us down to make us feel insignificant or incapable to achieve great success.
Being an Entrepreneur you must be diligent, perseverant, have a can't quit attitude, and look to learn from your failures. Every successful person has gone through them and its ok. Its not the end of the world. You will eventually find success. I promise you.
I don't care how old are you are, anyone can achieve success. It depends on your perspective of the world. Start by thinking and valuing your time. Follow and track your time. Are your capitalizing on every minute or is every minute just passing you by?
For example, lets look at some common sense basics.
Obviously a person whose 50 years or older, has very limited time and risk to start a business and/or invest due to the fact that their facing their own mortality clock. All the wealth that they've accumulated took them over 50 years. They can't risk as much as lets say a 20 year old who has their whole life ahead of them. A way to combat that is the following:
Lesson #1: Leverage
Leverage in its very basic terms, is trying to multiply yourself or your resources with just as little effort. Such as "Financing" a house with 10% down payment instead of paying for it in full.
Owning a Business, where you can have 10-50 people doing the same amount of work in the same amount time. In a much clearer example.
Imagine your a sole proprietor or self employed individual who charges $50/hr for the work you conduct. So Say you only have 8 hours in the day and the most you will gross in a day is $400 (8 x $50/hr), not to shabby right?
Heres what happens when you apply leverage.
Lets say you owned a company that specializes in the same skill set, and imagine having 8 customers/clients, where you now have to hire 8 employees to accommodate the "SAME" work load in a day and you charge $50/hr per employee you have working. (8 employees x $50/hr x 8 hours in day) by applying this leverage, you will now gross $3,200/ day. Now how's that for leverage?
- Last Example : Learning through leverage. Have you ever notice how disconnected older generations such as the baby boomers are from the millennial generations or vise versa?
The Millennials are gifted in being able to adapt to technology, always in the know, but lack real world business wisdom, knowledge, and business networks. Baby Boomer generations are gifted in Business wisdom but lack in being technologically savvy. These two generations can go great hand in hand by learning from each other .
If you find yourself in either side of the fence, make sure to invest your "TIME" with the people who are smarter than you.
In my personal experience, I invest my time with both sides. I'm 28 years old, self made millionaire, and I invest my time with older generations who are business savvy, filled with experience, and knowledge. I also surround myself with young, driven, energy filled, hungry, smart, technological individuals in their early 20's who have the inside scoop on whats happening now.
Im enjoying the best of both worlds and I urge people in their later years to invest their time, wisdom, and resources with younger people in order to make back for lost time. As for the millennials, I urge you to invest your time with people who are a lot older than you are, so that they will provide you with great real world business knowledge, wisdom, and established networks, which you can't get in school and could take you a life time to obtain.
I will urge you to attend conferences, seminars. A great app you can download is MeetUp. Found in the both the IOS and Android App stores. Sign up to groups and join any local events where you can meet up and network with like minded individuals.
