The study by the Japanese Yoshifumio Miyazaki has proven that people who are regular in nature have less depression and cancer. Therefore in Japan a walk in the nature is used therapeutically. The number of outdoor clinics is steadily increasing.
Man is to reduce stress much more efficiently in nature. Furthermore, when walking in nature, there are at least three different anti-cancer proteins and an excessive number of NK cells. These cells strengthen the immune system.
In Nature we breathe phytonzide. These substances are part of the immune system of plants and cause us to produce the anti-cancer proteins and NK cells.There are still many more positive effects. I just wanted to refer to Miyazaki's study today.

There has also been research that hospital patients and office workers(?) have had better health and attitudes when they have a window that looks out in nature, or see a green roof.

I can agree with you that being in nature sure keep us away from cancer.
