MY VIEW ON POLITICS IN THE WORLD TODAY. WHY SHOULD I CARE?

in #blog8 years ago

On hearing the word politics, what usually rushes into one’s head are images of
government, politicians and their laws and rules or the more common doings by the people in power knows as corruption.
World politics include different practices of political globalization in relation to questions of social power: from global patterns of governance to issues of globalizing conflict. The 20th century witnessed the outcome of two world wars and not only the rise and fall of the Third Reich but also the rise and fall of communism. The development of the atomic bomb gave the United States a more rapid end to its conflict in Japan in World War Two. Later, the development of the hydrogen bomb became the ultimate weapon of mass destruction.
Political system is a framework which defines acceptable political executions and methods within a prescribed community or rather society. Politics is put into practice on a wide range of social levels from clans and tribes of traditional societies, through a modern local government, institutions and companies up to sovereign states, to the international level. A variety of methods are employed in politics, which encompasses promoting or forcing one's own political views among people, negotiations with other political subjects, establishing laws and exercising force.
The big question to all this is why should I care? It is not only possible in USA that a secretary can work her way through to being CEO like Carly Fiorina stated in her republican presidential debate. It can happen anywhere in the world. It lies within the people of that country influenced by politics of course because our life revolves and are directly influenced by politics. We have come to a pivotal point in our world history where this world’s possibilities and potentials are being crushed by so called governments. An action so big, so powerful so inapt, so corrupt and a political class that refuses to do anything about it. They only show up when it is time to put them in power once again.
“Be the change you want to see in the world” Mahatma Gandhi. How can one change when the leaders are showing otherwise? I vehemently envy Mahatma Gandhi by telling this to people, but then why should I care? The world we live in is so corrupt that nobody cares anymore. This is shown by the recent terror attacks that took the world by surprise in Paris and Brussels respectively. The problem with politics and media is that they only show things they want the world to know. We were not told when civilians in Nigeria were killed by Boko Haram.

On the other hand our very own country is struggling economically. Unpleasant decisions are made by the stakeholders which have cost the nation a lot. I’m talking about the appointment of the new finance minister by the president which had a huge impact on the South African Rand, The re-appointment of Pravin Gordhan? The big money family known as the Guptas are appointing people to our very own Cabinet. It is crystal clear that the world we live in is so not where is should be. Where there is justice for all.
The government said nothing when students were financially excluded from the known higher educational institutions. Now it is election time, they act like they care. Oh! Why should I care? My government didn’t care for our brothers and sisters but now they need me. To do what exactly? To put them back in power so they will continue to make fun of our people. Well I don’t care! What I should actually care about is the life of the coming generations, our children will have to cope in the world that was ruined by their great grandfathers. Isn’t that sad enough? That someone else will suffer as a repercussion of what is materializing today. In USA more people suffer poverty than since President Obama occupied the oval office. This means more wrong doings and corruptions are taking place.
Who will help our world? I think the answer to this question is “anyone”. “Anyone who says they are not interested into politics is like a drowning man who insists he is not interested in water” Mahatma Gandhi. I use this quote because I think one is directly or should be directly involved with politics. Politics is us and we are politics. No breathing human being can run away from that. Our lives are influenced by politics. The information we rely on to live comes from politics.
With one learned politics we could help shape and sharpens the world to a greater for our children to live in. “Politics is the ability to foretell what is going to happen tomorrow, next week, next month and next year and to have the ability afterwards to explain why it didn’t happen’’ Winston Churchill. With that being said, what is it that are we going to tell to our granddaughters when we did not take part into politics? Are we going to tell them we did the same mistakes that was done by our fathers? Are we going to tell that we failed them? We don’t want that, do we? Now let us take this opportunity to correct the political incorrectness that is happening today.
“Education is the most powerful weapon that we can use to change the world” Dr Nelson R Mandela, learning and teaching politics could be of utmost importance in changing the world, it doesn’t have to be in a serious setting. We can learn and teach about politics even on the streets. ’What we do today will have great impact on what happens tomorrow” Unknown
