I was the same! Especially about the glasses. When I finally did get a prescription for glasses, at the age of 27, I was really excited because I thought they made me look more intellectual and I thought I'd get taken more seriously at work. I didn't, though I did get a better job (probably unrelated to my glasses.
My prescription was borderline, and I only ever wear glasses for driving now. People who have to wear glasses or contact lenses envy me.

Oh I'm happy to see that others too have been thinking that way :)
Mine is borderline as well so I don't have to wear them during the day.. And now I feel lucky enough as they give me headaches when I have them on for hours..
