I broke my right index toe in at least one place, pretty sure it was two places and a bad jam, and also pretty sure I broke a bone deeper in my foot as well as spraining it in several places. I sprained/jammed my middle toe as well, possibly a much smaller and minor fracture.
I know the index toe is broken, I had to reset the bone twice. It hurt like fucking hell, but hey, needed to be done.
I've been able to keep the swelling down, and I can walk on it decently well. (But I have an extremely high pain tolerance.) It's still really painful, but there really isn't much a hospital is gonna do for me. Other than not help me manage my pain, and maybe give me a big awkward boot or cast to wear that would end up getting bumped and bashed into everything in this small house and hurting even more.
If the pain doesn't start letting up a little in a few days, I'll go to the doctor and see what he wants to do.
I'm just glad my foot got fucked up at the end of my insanely busy Saturday.
On Saturday I woke up in the morning for my medicine, ate breakfast, ran errands for a several hours, then went to a friend's house, met his family for the first time, hungout with him for a while, then came home.
Not too long after coming home, I fucked up my foot. Yaaaaaaay!!!
Reminds me of prom twelve years ago, lol. I severely sprained the index, middle, and ring toes on my right foot the day before my (now) husband and I went to prom. (I did go to the hospital that time, my husband insisted.) The day of prom I was on my feet all day with the preparations, then prom itself, and then after prom (which was a really fun even held at a different location that wasn't restricted to only upperclassmen).
Except that Sunday was more errands instead of an event. Just two. Was also going to be spending time with some of my husband's family, but said family wasn't feeling well, so we came back home instead.
Which was probably for the best, as I was running on fumes. I needed the rest. Still do. (I am still recovering from being sick. I've recovered a lot, but when I exert too much energy, I'm definitely reminded I'm not fully recovered yet.)
Ouch!
I have done that a couple times and at best the doctor is going to tape it and give you pain killers and something for the swelling. or in my experience with broken toes.
Put foot up, take ibprofin or something for the swelling.
Hope you feel better!
I rarely get painkillers because they're convinced I'm a drug addict because I complain of severe chronic pain and try to get it managed yet without asking for narcotics.
Very allergic to ibuprofen.
And yeah, that's pretty much why I haven't gone to the hospital. But the more time passes, the more I feel there's definitely a break deeper in my foot as well. Like when I broke my hand twenty years ago.
Swelling is under control. I've been keeping it up most of the time and haven't been walking on it too much. The pain sucks, but the hospital isn't gonna help me with the pain, either.
If its a broken bone in your foot they might put you in a soft cast or a walking cast. if its just a broken toe its one thing but a broken foot might be a bigger deal.
You dont want it to partially heal wrong if its your foot and end up with the doctors wanting to re break it.
:/
Ice pack might help a little if cant take ibuporfen.
Worst that could happen from going to doctors is they say you only have a broken toe. if they confirm your foot is broken then its a good thing you went.
Best thing to deal with pain is to do something else to take you mind off it, like posting and talking with people on steemit.
:D
Then your brain is busy with other stuff insted of concentraiting on the pain.
I've suffered chronic pain my entire life, I'm pretty experienced with distracting myself from it. :P
I'll hopefully be making a few posts today.
:D
Ill try not to miss them.
Poor you! Take care of yourself and rest that foot. I remember falling in the yard several years ago after I got my foot stuck in a hole. It took forever for my foot to heal and even now I feel sharp pains in the same place I hurt it when I'm on my feet a lot. You gotta take care of those feet so injuries don't hurt you down the road when your older.
Oh, I already have that problem. Born with arthritis, and I ran around barefoot everywhere as a kid. Injured my feet playing hard, certainly broke bones in my feet that never got treatment as a child. (And I had several severe head injuries that the cesspool knew about and just refused to get treated, when I was fourteen and had a full panoramic x-ray of my head before getting my braces, I was asked how old I was when I broke my skull and how it happened.)
In fact, earlier Saturday evening my right foot had been acting up when I was going down the stairs at our friend's house. I had to stop and take a few minutes before I could keep going, or I would've fallen.
This injury will hurt me even after it's healed. It's over quite a few old, preexisting injuries that've accumulated over the years. I think the shape of my feet make them more prone to injury. That and I'm not exactly Mr. Graceful.
Stepping in holes usually hurts my ankles and/or knees, but the again, I usually wear strong work boots, usually steel-toed. As much as a love going barefoot, I did switch to wearing boots when not indoors or in my yard when I was a tween.
Annnnnnd I'll stop rambling now.
I've been taking good care of my foot. I may end up going to the doctor at the end of the week or beginning of next week depending on how it all feels.
For the moment it's mostly just painful. The swelling is pretty much under control, at least. Small miracles, lol.
Well, that's a bummer! Hope you can avoid a trip to the doctor and the pain lets up soon.
No! I'm so sorry, that's the last thing you need.
...running on fumes.
I'm familiar with that. It is always in those moments that these things happen.
I hope your darling one is taking care of you, I'm sure he is... Just like prom 😍. You two are divine.
Look after each other. Talk soon xxxxxxxxxxx
