Every year there is a kiteboarding contest held in Cape Town South Africa called the King of the Air (KOTA).
Some of kiteboardings most daring athletes gather to attempt to execute some of the most dangerous kiteboarding tricks.

The KOTA is all about getting big air and looping the kite when super high up. When you loop the kite you are harnessing the greatest amount of lateral force which causes the kiter to be jolted quickly downwind (horizontal) at the highest point of the jump.

Some of the jump heights can be upwards of 75 feet. While at these incredible heights the riders will attempt different moves to get style points from the judges.
The competition has a two-week weather window which started on January 26th during which the event hosts will select dates with the best conditions - a consistent wind of over 30-knots and good incoming swell for riders to boost off of the waves.
