So, I recently bought a new laptop... A Lenovo Ideapad 320. Looks great, but dang it is slow as molasses!
I thought since it was a smaller laptop, that it would be great for blogging on the road but nah... Once I open more than 3 tabs and try some simple web photo editing, it slows to a crawl.
So... Now, I am looking for a serious upgrade. XPS 13, Microsoft Surface, or an Asus Zenbook are 3 that have been on my radar lately.
How do you blog? Do you guys use a tablet, smart phone, laptop or a PC?
Any suggestions?

Maybe you got 2 antivirus running. Lenovo Ideapad 320 doesnt look to bad or just buy a ssd! Then it should get faster and install a new! windows or whatever.

Personally I changed over to a MacBook Pro this last year and fell totally in love, I can be editing, doing a online class, searching the web all kinds of stuff and it never seems to slow down. I will never go back to PC for a laptop. But it dose have some quirks. Never was a fan until I got sick of the slowdowns cleaning and rebooting my pc. just a thought.
Thanks! That is great advice... I have honestly been steering away from a Mac, since I am so used to a windows machine since forever. I do think Macbooks have better programs and rendering for editing... If I am correct?
I will go look at them tomorrow at the Apple store... Maybe they will let me borrow one. Ha!
Yes they are amazing for editing the version of Imovie that came with it is great just on its own. Their are so many programs for editing but it itself is easy and pretty fantastic. I was the same many many years dedicated to PC but I got so sick of the bugs constant upgrading etc. I figured it was worth a try I talked to friends that had them, went in played on one and well now Im a convert, never thought I would either. For the price what they come with and the fact on over a year now Ive never had to force shut down or reboot it was worth it. Like you I never really was a fan but now I guess Im a fanboy..lol well good luck in your search and I hope you find some thing that you will enjoy and helps you in your journey.

Well Im glad you picked something thats that tough part..lol HP puts out a great product I know you will be happy with it Ive had a few over the years, and they always treated me good. Its always exciting to get a new computer I'm really happy for you. I really appreciate the mouse offer as well you are too sweet, but I just replaced mine like a month ago but I really appreciate the offer. I am selling my other laptop just a few weeks old, where can I sell it without people asking me 99% discount lol... I can't sell it with my friends, I have to make my money back at least lol

Plus Im getting the chance to share my passions I have only put up 12 of my own posts so far, but I'm going to share more. I want to share some more photos I've taken and really old cartoons on dtube like betty boop and other stuff.

What are the specs on the computer you just bought?
There are a variety of things you could try to speed it up. There could be some simple fixes that would help!
I think just an i3 processor :( I kinda fell in love with the color over the specs... lol. A stupid move :)
What software would you suggest to improve the speed in the meantime?

An i3 shouldn't be too bad for a portable notebook.
I'd download CCleaner and run the cleaner as well as its registry tool to make sure you don't have any built up junk slowing you down. It also has a tool to let you look at the programs that are set to run when your computer starts up. You may consider disabling the ones you don't need in order to conserve system resources.
Hopefully you'll be able to find some ways to make it zippier! Good luck!

Ever since I worked at a computer repair store in high school and the owner included CCleaner in his own Windows distribution, I decided it's a great little program for any PC. I think there's even a version for Mac.

You're very welcome! I live in the US. I'm originally from North Carolina, and I worked at a computer repair store in high school, so I picked up a lot of tips and tricks that still work well for computers.
There are definitely a lot of choices now, but the hardware on everyday computers hadn't changed that much over the past couple of years. So that makes it a little easier to pick something out.

Personally I have my PC for it. I find it difficult to use my smart phone for blogging specifically with steemit. I hope someone would come up with an APP for it someday lol.

You should look for the processor and the RAM. I use i5 with 4gb RAM. What are the specs of your laptop?!

I have Microsoft surface pro 4. I was skeptical about any product that Microsoft would put on the market all the time. But then... i have tried Surface for a few hour and i bought one. To be honest i was never so satisfied with any of my mobile devices. Keyboard is a joy to type with, and it is detachable. I have not detached it on many occasions to use Surface in a Tablet mode, but when i needed it i could. I have got the slowest version of it to save money, and i have been doing photo editing, video editing on it too. Frankly, i would get a faster one, as editing video is very demanding, but it is still doable. When the time comes to upgrade, i will definitely look into a new version of Microsoft Surface.

Looks like PS4 slim :)) I have paid it when it came out to the market new 1200 EUR i believe together with 16-50 kit lens, now it retails at ~900 something. it's a neat camera for the money. My two cents is to install Manjaro or Ubuntu Linux on it. It's amazing how fast a slow computer can become with Linux. Could save you some time and money. I personally blog using a Dell Inspiron 15 with an old i3 using Manjaro KDE, works just fine for me.

I think I paid $300 three years ago. In windows it's slower than molasses but with Linux ide consider it at least equivalent to an i5 laptop in windows. If you have the old laptop still ide throw it on and out the old laptop to use as well.

i don't know much about the the processor technicalities... as long as it's core i5 up...
the one I got now is core i5, 7th gen... which is pretty fast for blogging and web browsing.

Any good 13" or 14" is light and compact enough for the road.. you can go smaller if you like, I'd say maximum 14" in size for travel laptop. Anything with i5 pentium well last quite a while...

Of course.. I take a lot of videos and photographs, so I bring a external HD with me to store them and of course to blog. That's nice laptop.
Hey Gilaine, I see that u got an HP laptop already.. good. it's funny, i was gonna recommend u get an HP. I have an HP laptop also, but prefer to do steemit and any computer stuff on my PC. (it's a custom built I put together about 2 years ago) cool. well, hope it works great for u and do ask me anymore computer questions u might have now or in the future. :)
