I'm so happy that you are learning more about the Christian faith. The Scripture in my blog is from what is commonly called Gnostic Text.
The Nag Hammadi Scriptures, or texts, were discovered decades ago in a cave in Egypt hidden by Coptic Christians. The scrolls were written (or copied) a few hundred years after the death of Christ. They are controversial, but contain many thought inspiring messages. The Gospel of Judas is just one gospel (the good word) that was pieced together and finally brought to the public about 12 years ago.
I was raised, and remain a Roman Catholic. Happy Easter!
I was born Catholic, too, but can't say I am one still. Very interesting about the Coptics. Is this related to the 'Dead Sea Scrolls'? It's kind of funny and beautiful at the same time to think about how I used to think of myself as such an intellectual without even having scratched the surface of Christianity...
Once you take an in-depth look at the Catholic church, not the teachings necessarily-- you discover some very mystical experiences. Read about some of the saints lives and it's a beginning.
