Court in Austria: Citizens have the right to take the middle finger of politicians

Citizens have the right to "take a finger" or to swear to politicians as long as they have an excuse after action, a law set up in an Austrian court.
Austrian deputy secretary Heinz-Cristian Strache had accused a group of extremist activists of "public insults" after a video was published on the social media that attacked him.

However, the Vienna appeal court dismissed the appeal on the basis of freedom of expression, transmeton gazetametro.net

"The right to a political, provocative and shocking opinion is a fundamental part of freedom of expression," the court ruled, confirming a previous ruling by a lower court.

The Linkswende Jetzt or Left Now, a band who had made a video that offered a number of reasons for supporters to declare "Fuck Strache" and to raise their mid-fingers to the far-right Freedom Party leader.
