Monday, February 5, 2018, was a strange day at school. It’s one of those wins, I guess, as we actually got through my planned lessons without too much in the way of unexpected complications. Granted, I was missing a few students but none of the absent were among the more challenging ones. It was just an interesting day, basically.
One of the new things we did today was to begin the guided reading program for my class. Essentially, in collaboration with the literacy support teacher and the learning support teacher, I divided my class by reading level and each teacher took a group to work on different lessons; I took reading, the literacy teacher took some language development lessons and the learning support teacher did some assessment work. Overall it went well, we rotated the groups between each teacher for that they weren’t left working on one section longer than they could manage and everyone had a chance to do everything.
In the afternoon, I decided to focus on art with the class and we worked on using patterns, specifically triangles today, to create things. When that portion was done, we designed our names using patterns, triangles again, and then created a work with them.
In other news, the salmon fry hatched recently and they’re doing well.
Great stuff! It's always good when you can get through a lesson plan. :)
