Porch pirates. Love them or hate them? If you are like any normal person, you lean towards hate. Although a strong word, strong dislike surely comes to mind. I had a delivery scheduled for yesterday that never arrived. Check the tracking number, it says delivered. Obviously I checked around and it's nowhere. Contacted the delivery company, waiting for a call back. It just really works my nerves. Yet another thing that has me begging to move away from here but no funds to make it happen. It's slowly becoming a terrible area and no one will do anything about it.
To top it all off yesterday, we had a visit from just one of the local meth heads. Get a knock on the door in the evening. Thought it may have been someone looking for my brother so I opened the door slightly and asked him if I could help him. The following is something I couldn't have made up even if I tried. No shit, hands down the best/saddest moment with a stranger. Here is what he said to me.
"Ma'am, you might think I'm crazy but I'm not. We are in a dome. I see the way you are looking at me, but we are in a dome and it's getting ready to fall. The rednecks are up there bouncing balls on it and it's getting ready to fall. Do you see the moon over here and the sun over there? It's the dome."
Now I will admit, the look on my face was total "wtf" and he noticed. He tried to convince me that he wasn't on meth or anything of the sort. But he believed it so strongly and looked so concerned that the dome was getting ready to fall. Needless to say I just closed and locked the door.
So I go out back and ask my brother if he is still around. He said he tried to tell Bubbles, my mom's dog, all about the dome and told Bubbles he would set him free. Even though times are hard and things with my brother are beyond screwed up, he chased the guy off.
I will be the first to admit, all of us in the house had a huge laugh over what happened. I even realized I had a copy of Stephen King's "Under the Dome" on my nightstand and that I should have given it to the guy and said it would explain everything. Of course then we all had visions of the man on the corner preaching from a Stephen King novel. Which of course made us laugh even more. At the end of the day it was a sad situation for him that he was so drugged out of his mind that he was knocking on random doors trying to tell people about it. Yet another reason I wish we could move away from here. I'm seriously concerned about letting my son go outside and shoot his bow or do anything at all. I never know what's going to happen out there.
Which brings me to the next story which I will keep short.
My son tells me to come look out his window. I asked him why. He said just look. One of the neighbors was being serviced by a local gal in his truck. Just what I wanted my son to see. I have been able to escape the birds and the bees talk but I guess now we have to. God help us.
We had actually planned on moving in a few months. We were just waiting for funds to hit the bank. But then they didn't. Denied at every turn. Unemployed thanks to the virus. Broke as hell. Maybe one day. My son deserves to grow up through his teen years in a safer environment.
