Ok so, I was working on my intro post for my new campaign and started writing down a different kind of post. Every now and again I feel that I need to right something personal to try to explain a bit about myself. Like most people I just want to be understood.

My Dad

My father 20 when I was born. He was a Professional Timber Faller AKA a Lumberjack AKA a Logger. He was hard working, kind, generous, and treated everyone with the respect they had earned. Played football, basketball, and did running, throwing, and jumping events in track and field. Voted most popular in his class.

He enjoyed his tv and movies, especially the works of George Lucas, Steven Spielberg, John Hughes, John Carpenter, Ridley Scott, Gene Roddenberry and Monty Python. He also enjoyed his Nintendo, mostly Mario Bros., Duck Hunt, and racing games. He was the Nerdiest Jock you would ever meet.

So from a young age I was raised on Fantasy and Science Fiction. I gained an appreciation of the "Classics". Star Wars, Dune, Star Trek, Alien, Predator, Ghostbusters, Conan, Willow, and Python's Holy Grail.

I started this post days ago, not realizing why I started it. Then it dawned on me this morning. Today is his birthday.

He died in June of 2013, on the job, with his boots on. I was trucking at the time, and had finished getting qualified to train other drivers. I was on week four of five training my first student. We were in Indianapolis at the time picking up... milk? And heading to Atlanta.

I made the delivery, cleaned out the truck, dropped the student off at a hotel and flew home. It was a long drive.

I miss him dearly and I wanted to share. Thanks for reading.
