Recently i have been so very worried about the rate at which people get depressed and result to drugs as the only way out.
I have decided to make a post on the effects of drug abuse and its deadly impart on individuals, their families and the society at large. Hope this would serve as sensitisation.
ADDICTION
An addicts is a person who habitually and compulsively uses narcotic drugs so as to directly endanger his own or others health, safety and welfare. Drug addiction is the compulsive use of drugs in greater amount than are used in ordinary therapeutic practice, or are acceptable in social custom and that is harmful to the individual, to society or to both . The term drug addiction is used to mean a behavioural pattern of compulsive drug use characterized by an overwhelming involvement with the procurement and use of the drug and the high tendency of the user to relapse to drug use after a period of abstinence. It is synonymous with intensive or severe drug dependence.
Drug addiction is not the same as physical dependence on a drug. Physical dependence is a physiological or chemical condition produced by the administration of a drug to the extent that a characterized pattern of signs and symptoms appear when the drug is withdrawn and disappears when the drug is administered. Furthermore, when a drug is taken repeatedly over a prolonged period of time, drug tolerance develops, larger and larger doses of the drug must be taken in order to obtain the therapeutic effect, produced by the original small dose . repeated ingestion of barbiturates for example, activates the enzyme system that destroys barbiturates . the result is that a given dose of barbiturates is destroyed more and more quickly in the body, and the time an individual is kept asleep decreases .. But tolerance with the hypnotic and sedative effects of barbiturates does not seem to increase the lethal dose, but with other drugs, on the other hand, tolerance for the lethal dose may also develop.
Thus an individual who has acquired tolerance to cocaine or morphine may take several times the amount that would be lethal to an ordinary individual. And when a drug is not taken for sometimes, tolerance disappears. The exact way these drugs acts on individual is not clearly and understood.
The main effects of the various chemotherapy and phannacodynamic drugs are known and ascertained. And in contrast to the chemotherapeutic agents, which attack only the invading microorganisms and have no direct effect on the infected person the phannacodynamic agents, forming the second major group of drugs that work by altering the physiological and biochemical responses of various systems in the body.
DEPRESSANTS
These include dope, hashish, morphine, opium, marijuana, cocaine and opium poppy. Depressants also include lithium salts bromides and the morphine alkaloids. These are drugs , which have the ability yo decrease temporary the body functions. These drugs depress all tissue that conducts nerve impulses. The resultant effect is to produce unconsciousness or coma.
Morphine: this is a highly addictive drug. In other word, it is very difficult to control once started. An overdose of the drug may cause death, attacking the respiratory system causing respiratory failure.
Alcohol: Alcohol as popular as it is comes with a lot of troubles for its victims. Alcohol anaesthetized the brain and the spinal cord. And because it relaxes first the most civilized functions of the brain, it tends to banish worry. It loosens the tongues , and may break some legal and normal restraints. Alcohol impairs a drivers judgement and performance, and as a result the alcoholic drivers has a high potency for traffic accidents leading to serious injury and death.
Alcoholics: the alcoholic is usually dehydrated, overactive due to prolonged session of drinking. As a result, in need of food and medication to settle his inflamed stomach and as a decamps from drinking session, giddiness, palpitations and extreme restlessness set in. And insomnia, hallucinations , convulsions and a tendency to become easily injured or infected accompany these symptoms. Chronic alcoholic usually develop a number of physical traits and disorder, these includes puffiness of the face, redness of the eyes, and he may suffer from gastritis with nausea and vomiting.
Additionally he suffers skin diseases, neuritis, liver disease and pancreatitis. This chronic alcoholic often suffers from various mental disorders. He mentally clouded, egocentric and may also suffer impairment of memory.
CONCLUSION
I would stop here today and I hope you have learnt and seeing some of the various effects of drugs. Drug addiction is indeed a suicide in disguise.
Lets do our own pary by staying away from drugs as no one ever plans to get addicted they all started by the curiosity of taking a nap. Its often said that curiosity kills the cat.. its my ultimatum prayer that God would deliver who ever has been addicted by the power of the holy Ghost. Y'all have a nice day

Drug addiction is the usage of drugs without prescription...... It not good for out health..... Am i right?
Not just without prescription but using it in excess and making our breath depend on it daily expecially those that are very harmful to our body system..
